My thought pattern was butcher goose > hang goose > fowl-killing group > cockpit. Then I just thought about types of street with 5 letters: alley, steps. Done.
Weird for me to get it because I usually overthink everything and assume there's some hidden meaning, but I just stumbled upon it really. Never seen Top Gun.
Never be sorry, you're an strong, independent person of the 21st century. Beyonce and that.

In Top Gun, the character "Goose" is killed during an ejector seat deployment. His seat catapults upward into the cockpit canopy that has not got out of the way. He breaks his neck and then floats down, flacid and inert, to the waiting sea.
I am welling up here.
"Steps" is the name of a pop group.

I was looking for something to do with Maverick because I still blame him for Goose's death.
The cunt. -

These cryptic clues never really work do they?
Maybe better for The Times crossword.

@brokebroadbeat I never watched Top Gun either. And your clue was just mental. But I liked the bit where i'm beyonce and a survivor and all that sassy stuff. Thanks girlfriend.

Class.

That was going to be the clue! I assume it's by the same person. It's a short walk away from this one regardless

Always thought that seems great at first until you think about how much council tax was wasted on his 'hilarious' battle of wits that could have been spent on the essential services local authorities spend money on.
Sorry to sound like a buzzkill.
-
• #17418
The money would be spent on the same thing regardless.

I hate this.
I love this. -

I had planned on tagging the new rainbow one across the street as my next tag
-
• #17422
Nice.
Love the tagging opportunism.
-
• #17423
Arse. You must have posted that at about the same time I was there.
Knew I should have left the house earlier!
-
• #17424
That's the fault of the council, not the artist. I'm constantly irked (or else enraged) by how much is spent on beautifying London while services and benefits and housing are cut.

• #17425
Ah, so it's not this one then.

I was looking for shotgun something...I had a eureka moment at "shotgun blast", because "pop"=blast and a shotgun shoots a group of pellets, but then I realised that's not a place name. It's been a rollercoaster ride.
