What is the antibacterial process? And does it wear off like a DWR?
I've never found any synthetic jersey with an antibacterial element to work as claimed so I'm quite sceptical.

I had a football shirt with silver thread in the armpits which seemed to work ok, although I never actually played football in it.
-
• #24929
That's largely due to the fact that you probably use it more than twice before being given a new one by your team kit representative.

My team kit representative is notoriously tight with kit so I've really got to squeeze all the life out of it.
I've used silver threaded kit for walking/climbing and it didn't work well enough for me. In my experience, synthetic antimocrobial clothing doesn't work - a lot of the treatments seem to come out in the wash after a couple of cycles and they can't be particularly good for the environment either.

It's a non-branded anti-bac treatment, I'll try to find the out the specific function (silver ion, carbon, charcoal etc) if of interest. Having tested different ones over the years I've never discerned a difference between branded/unbranded treatments, nor a performance dropoff over time. All jersey and baselayer products with polyester content are treated - Pro Team, Souplesse, Replica - to avoid holding onto odour.

I'd be interested to know what it is - they might have got better over the years but certainly, in the past they were pretty poor to begin with and after a couple of washes. It's not a particular issue for me - I usually accept that nothing is as good as merino, I'm just curious.
It all looks great by the way - I'm loving the range.

I use my kit as much as possible before washing it. Bibs ever ride of course. But I'd happily use jerseys a few days in a row.
Washing bike stuff is the main cause of wear.
-
• #24934
certainly, I'll look into it for you :)
-
• #24935
Yes, it's a silver ion (silver salt, silver chloride) treatment, and it is a branded one, just confirming which source. Silver ion antibac is referred to by one supplier as 'effective for the lifetime of the garment' (my paraphrasing) so yes, it's durable.

Leather Race Bag
Did you really buy it? I've always wondered who purchases that sort of stuff. Is it any good? And have you used it?
-
• #24943
The (non-leather) race bag is amazing - mary poppins-esque size and bulletproof quality.
-
• #24944
Yes. Leather is nice, good zips, solid construction, good size for a weekend's worth of stuff. Quite smart so nice for formal things e.g. took a present to a wedding. Gym. Blah blah it's a medium sized nice but pricey bag for Operating Thetan Level V Raphites.

anyone else waiting impatiently for this years PT range to drop?
-
• #24946
I waited too long to realise my large long sleeve jersey was too big.
I've returned it asking for a refund. But what I really wanted was a medium. A long sleeved sportswool jersey seems a Nice training partner for my brevet + merino arm warmers. Which gets far too much use. I struggle to Wash these in time I use them so much.
Are there any similar options in the New ranges? NOT BLACK.

What do you need to know?
....or
"Made of a fabric that has been treated with an antibacterial process, the jersey stays fresher for longer during your rides."
