...or maybe I don't view every thread on the forum every day.
I was looking at the tires thread, saw you post something about weather. Ten posts down, I also post about weather and you throw your toys out the pram.
Anyway, this must rank amongst the dumbest things I've ever argued about online, and I've argued about a lot of dumb stuff.

Really? You must have pretty low standards for online hissy fits.
Like you I don't view every thread every day, so keeping a two day old post in my precious little memory space so that your gag makes sense ain't happening.
I've argued and will continue to argue about far dumber shit than posts about my weather being harder than your weather or whether (geddit) people use the reply buttons so future readers know what's going on.
So, anyway, what tyres are you using today?

Panasonic gravelking 25c on my fixed commuter/winter thing. I've got fairly narrow Halo rims and wanted something that'd give me decent grip without compromising on speed too much.
I crashed twice last winter due to slipping on ice. Haven't had anything so bad this year, especially with slightly lower psi. The tyres seem pretty okay.

I use GP4000s II on a bunch of bikes, and like them, but sidewalls are disappointing in my experience. Always seems to be the bit that goes, well before the tyre is too worn.

London is, apparently, the second-driest place in the country, after Ipswich. At least that was said some years ago, no idea if it still applies.

Fixed.

Ice is a fucker. I don't go out in it nowadays.
Can't afford broken bones and I was on blood thinners for a lot of last year which made crashing quite a bad idea.I had a newer Durano on the turbo last night and it was rolling heavy but maybe I'd just tightened the roller down more than normal.

I washed my Clement Strada LGG gum walls with washing up liquid and a sponge. They've come up quite nice.

Which is still fucking damp when you compare it to quite a lot of Oz.

Yeah, last year it was ice or nothing. This year I got myself a nice turbo trainer so been using that to maintain fitness when it's been too grim outside.
Looking forward to getting back to the perfect, dry tarmac of Majorca again in April though!

I was in Majorca early Feb when it was the Thames flooded my normal training roads (coincidence, honest) and it rained heavy once in the week. Rest of the time it was lovely.
And people want to leave Europe? Mental. Majorca rocks. -

I have been running Paselas (25s) over the last couple of years but put on a set of Open Pave (27s) at Christmas and, so far, I'm very impressed. Loads of grip and pretty fast rolling.

Options for slick (non knobbly) 650b tyres?
So far I've found Kojak's and Panaracer Col de la Vie. Compass aren't great for commuting are they?
-
• #2744
Yep commute on both compass and kojak. Kojak have done about 1.5k miles without any issues (latex tubes with sealant) compass is just unnecessary $wag.
Would highly rate Kojaks. But I think they are not for fatties.
Do you bath in champagne? If so get compass.
-
• #2745
I don't bath in Champagne, nor am I a fatty (60ish kg). You got a 650b wheelset I could test for clearances by any chance?
-
• #2746
Yep if you make it to BR1? I am tempted to sell that bike tbh ..
-
• #2747
I do use Compass for commuting but then YMMV.
edit - the fact you only weight 60kg mean you're a lots less likely to get punctured, unless you inflated them as if you're a fattie.

Cargo messengers in Copenhagen ride Kojaks.

60 front/70 rear on 28s. I need to work out if I can fit the 2inch version. What rim width would be best for 34mm+ tyres?
-
• #2750
Anything above 17mm internal and you'll be fine.
It took you two days to find a rainfall map?
