Here's a piece of string question but what's the minimum amount of seatpost I need to have in the seat tube to stop me dying?
No amount of overlap between seat tube and seat post can prevent death. You'll be buggered if you have less than 50mm in any case, or less than 1/4 of the total length for posts longer than 200mm.

Here's a piece of string question but what's the minimum amount of seatpost I need to have in the seat tube to stop me dying? I weigh 80kg. The seatpost (Campag Record carbon) has been cut at a lovely angle by the previous user.
