emerge as the moral victor
I can always do that no matter how fast my kit is :)

Remember to use the patented formula of 30 seconds allowed for each pound above 12 stone, (RTTC sporting handicap guideline 7536, subsection 23, paragraph 3, 1937).

15 minutes. Sweet. Almost certain 10mi PB then :)

*Ineligible for National Championship entry forms.

Also entered my first 15mi TT because... ALL THE CLUB RECORDS!
-
• #11857
you going to go out and try or just roll around tempting others into doing one next year, only to blow them out the water...?
-
• #11858
The 15 I'll be trying on, not 100% but I'll be trying for a decent time not a soft target. We have a junior who's almost as fast as me at the short stuff so if he's racing I can't afford to back off anyway, especially as the course doesn't suit me.
What I'd like is to hold all the club records at once but I'm not sure how likely it is as I can't afford to waste time doing 10mi-specific training when I've got ultra races I want to be competitive at.

if all else fails you could just get yourself a trike - all those records look pretty soft....
-
• #11860
which reminds me I need to get the club to create a repository of club records, as id like to hold some...
whats the deal with being a second claim member and club records - could I join Willesden or Maidenhead or Middlesex RC as a second claim and go for their records for example - or do you have to be riding for a club specifically to go for club records?
-
• #11861
Pass.
Unless someone buys me a bigger house to store it, bigger car to cart it around and pays for me to race it.
I used to have great fun on a fixed, solid-tyre trike when I was a kid.
-

I don't think it counts if you're second claim (I recall something about a tandem record not being legit because one of the riders was 2nd claim) but I'm not that familiar with club rules so you'd have to check each club's.
-
• #11864
It would depend on the club but normally you would have to be first claim
-
• #11865
fair enough, I was only looking at joining as I do a lot of two clubs TTs and think there is some kind of pre booking available to Maidenhead club member's for their Thursday club event, then looked at Middlesex as a lot of my club do their event and I was thinking about getting in touch to offer some help in organising and realised their club records are all pretty old!

Can anyone explain what MM (middle markers?) is? Is it just the namer events with a LTS slower than X.XX or is it more complex than that?
Also, is there a 'no man's land' of times that won't get you into a MM event or a normal one?

Yeah. Was reading a thread on TTF of people complaining they can't get a ride on V718 because of their 21:xx. Oh, boo-fuckin-hoo!

Today's TT Tip from the Hip: Ride faster.
-
• #11869
I'm in that no-man's land at the moment with a 10m PB of 21:48. Happily, I never expect sympathy. For anything. Ever.
Anyway, I'm shooting for a long 20 this year. Aim high, fail regularly, that's my motto.

Does that get you into open events on the Tring course or the E2/10? They are two courses I can get to easily (and are flat which will suit me). I'm trying to get involved in TTs this year, only entered one at the end of last year. Last thing I want is to enter lots of races and have my entry rejected every time!
-
• #11871
Gets me into VTTA events on the E2/10 on account of me being a veteran (just). So far I've never had an entry turned down, although that's probably blind luck rather than my amazing PBs.

might as well enter and have your name put on reserves, you get your money back if you don't get a ride...
-
• #11874
If you don't enter any races, you never lose any races.
Phew! What a weight off! #fatjokeshere

With all this club record chat, it occurs to me that I must hold the Lufguss.cc records.
Some easy pickings there, trophy hunters...
Ideal, this approach also allows you to mentally gift yourself, say, 3 minutes for loss of aeros and emerge as the moral victor!
