Got it.
Looks a little like paint ragging in that second pic...
I would make sure it's monochromatically white and depend on the actual texture of the OSB for visual interest. -

I still want to cover a floor in cheap ply and paint it matte black for that nite club feel.

I just think it could be an interesting experiment for the spare room. I've seen it stained grey or in lighter tones.
Time will tell if it's an awful idea... -
• #5830
spare room, well then
-
• #5831
How will you fix it to stop flex (if the floor/walls aren't dead flat already)?
-
• #5832
Ply first for the floor.
-
• #5833
What do you mean? Just nail the fuckers down
-
• #5834
OSB will develop flex

Disconnecting a gas cooker. Do I need a CORGI registered engineer?
-
• #5836
I'm pretty sure you do
-
• #5837
Oh right, I think it will be ok but will ask the builders for their thoughts. They'll probably tell me it's a stupid idea but I don't give AF
-
• #5838
Silly question. What is osb?
-
• #5840
By pulling the bayonet fitting out, or cutting the pipe and capping it?
-
• #5841
Cheers dude!
Not sure I like it... I like the glossy but when so many surfaces looks overbearing.

Does make your house look like a 'hipster' coffee shop or craft beer pub as well...
Though I did like it as a varnished floor. Might think about that for the kitchen.
-
• #5843
Varnished floor I mean.... I agree with that. And the hipster craft beer pub look.
-
• #5844
@Dammit, Im just diconnecting it whilst I paint and put the flooring down. Cooker is <10 years old, has rubber hosing so assume bayonet fixing?
@Tenderloin careful is OSB, it'll warp like a fucker if the lacquer wears or chips. Definatly 6mm plyboard before doing it. I'd be inclined to get some thicker baltic birch planks and lay those, could work?
-
• #5845
I like the idea of having it everywhere in a whole room.
@Fahrgestell Again I think it will be ok, I've sent Carl Turner architects an email as they used it extensively at Ochre barn, which I've visited before at home. They used it in the bathroom. I'll be laying baltic birch ply down stairs.
I like it's textural quality and the fact it's recycled

If you're cutting all the boards yourself definitely invest in a tracksaw. I couldn't plump for Festool but have been very impressed with my Dewalt.

Be fine, make sure the chain is in place

It depends what kind of subfloor you have already, if it's straight on to the joists then it would probably be best to fix ply and have the OSB as a floating floor. The only place they use OSB as the subfloor is new builds because it's cheaper but it will definitely start flexing and creaking, so avoid if possible.
Sorry, by downstairs I mean Living room/Dining room.
The two bedrooms will have varnished OSB flooring and the spare room I want to cover the walls in thinner OSB and then paint these white
