I rode past a blatant thief trying to wrench a locked bike off a rack today. I asked him if he was nicking it. He told me if I didn't fuck off he was going to stab me. I quickly weighed up the options and decided I would indeed fuck off to a safe distance.

I'm feeling bad now as I'm not sure what I should have done. Rung the popo? Taken a photo of him? He hung around for a while hoping I would leave then shouted something at me and walked off so I had plenty of time to think of something clever to do, but didn't.

The bike wasn't nicked, which was good, but I fear I could have done more.

You possibly caused the cunt to decide to leave, so the best outcome was achieved. If you had got your phone out to take photos etc, he might of acted differently, definitely if he was already threatening you with a potential knife.

You could always check to see if there was CCTV covering the area, and notify whoever, but as he didn't take the bike, probably not a lot can be done.

Pulled the bike out the shed this morning and the front tube was flat. Must have patched it poorly last week but I'm running late as it is, so I pump it up and set off. I'm checking it the whole way to work, an anxiety-ridden mess, every pothole screaming at me. Giving it a good squeeze at every set of lights, pressure holds out and it makes it all the way. Success!

I dismount. There's a gurgling. Back tube's going down fast. Great.
