  • I saw a youtube clip where a guy dunks a cut strip of nitrate film in a mug of water, pushes it into the slot of his fully wound back film cannister so it sticks onto the film leader and then tugs it out - I'll give it a go tomorrow

  • I love found shots, you get that window into someone else's life. Pretty fascinating.

A friend's sister curated a load that had been left in high street chemists over the years, she exhibited them at a swanky west end gallery under the catchy title "four hundred weddings and an erection" - BBC article here

  • I've done double exposure projects before

The collaborative double exposure is a nice idea - it keeps things random. I'm not that comfortable with the contrivance of deliberately layering up exposures in exactly the right place....

Mine tend to be erroneous - e.g. forgetting to wind on a film before cocking the shutter, which came back from the lab this week..

  • You may have gathered that I just received a parcel from the lab....
This will be the last one I promise

  • "four hundred weddings and an erection"

    Great title.
    Horrible website.

  • saw a youtube clip

Thanks for reminding me checking youtube for stuff like this!
Just saw a video of a girl using double sided tape on a strip of film. So easy!

  • Got some rolls back yesterday.

    Hasselblad 501c - Kodak Portra 120

    Minolta XD7 / Rokkor 50mm f1.2 - Kodak Porta 400

Considering these were shot with a 50mm, I still can't believe I was allowed to get this close.

Walking home today through Spitalfields I found this old negative for 50p - would love to know where/when this was.

  • All great! Those first two are worthy entrants to that other thread...

  • 1st one of the Fox is absolutely fantastic.

  • I spotted this found-photo on your instagram. Breathtaking.

  • @Well_is_it yes I had seen this thread, seems like a great idea. Cheers

@mi7rennie This was taken at Kew Gardens on Sunday, out of shot there were about 5 other people all crowded round taking pictures too.

@miro_o I think browsing these old photos at the antiques market may become 'a thing' for me.

  • oh wow, that first shot of the Fox is incredible.

  • Yeah, this works. I've also taken a strip of film, cut square blocks out of it and then stuck tape on one side. Jam it in and it pulls your film out, simples.

  • Yeah I totally lucked out - I was there for about 5 minutes shooting (with 5 others!). Slightly rethinking my stance on 'all I need is a 50mm lens' constitution.

  • Paid £12 to digitalise one roll the other day. Seems steep? If so, where do you get yours done? Anywhere between the West End and Islington/Camden would be super.

  • I just post everything to Ag-Photolab. Probably works out about the same after post but is less hassle and they give you TIFFs...

  • ..that's even better, thanks for the tip!

  • I need to say that I'm feeling the big love for Arundel Photographic. A cave packed full of 99% film cameras and the accessories, at ridiculously reasonable prices. Also masses of cine stuff.

I picked up the rare rollieflash, a dedicated hammerhead flash for my Minolta x300, flashbulbs and a 620 film spool for the cheapest prices ever. I've asked him for the most obscure bits and bobs and he's always come up trumps.

If you can, go and wonder at the stock. The guy is about 80, and may not be around for much longer.

Far better stock and better prices than Clocktower in Brighton, and way better than any of the shops in London.

  • You need to give the exact model for a good estimate. Also boxed, hood, 6 bit? The 35mm f2 has been produced since 1958 with 5 versions since then.

  • Nice turn-around with Ag-Photolab; posted on wednesday, received back today.

Some weird wet marks in shots with a lot of sky – I think it might be condensation from coming out of the freezer too quickly.

  • very nice colours

  • Cheers. It's Portra 160 shot at +1EV, so ISO 80 I guess...

  • Relatively LFGSS appropriate.
Melbourne, Aus. Shot in December just before leaving to live here in London.
Konica Hexar AF / Kentmere 100.
