  • @BigH too short I'm afraid, needs to be 2-3cms longer! Think I might just sand down my shittest 27.2 post

    @Hekla @gonnok cheers!

  • That fluidisk looks like it's in really manky condition. Isn't it just a road wheel with a track axle shoved in it?

  • I'm literally incapable of building a sensible bike

  • is that a 150 pro chrome?

  • Nah I think it's 130mm but might be 140.

  • I like when this thread gets bumped, it gives me an excuse to stare at that Anchor again. Great frames and builds all round but the Anchor is one of the nicest bikes on the forum

  • Love the details on the Tom

  • Mock build up. I didn't realise that the fork was 700c. I spoke to the seller and he said that it came with a regular Cinelli 700c for and didn't know if the frame was meant for 650 or 700. From looking at all the other Tommasini air lo pros I would say that it is 650c.

I know these frames are very rare so the chance of getting a Tommasini Columbus air 650c fork will be pretty much zero. The seller said it took him 4 years to find the 700c road version which the frame came with so yeah. I am going to find a chrome 650c fork so that the geometry can be how it was intended.

In terms of parts, I want to go for full campag pista. I want a riser cockpit for casual riding and then a proper bullhorn setup. This will likely be a long term build, buying the parts when I can. Any suggestions are welcome!

  • Also finished up the Peloton today. Unfortunately I have come to the realisation that I have too many bikes, and with this being the one I'm least sentimental about, it will be going up for sale shortly. Took it out for a spin and it felt really nice. The funds will help build the Tommasini.

  • Tomassani is super lush. Peloton story is unfortunate, does look good.

  • Tom is your best outing yet

  • Tom is gonna be amazing. Looks great already.

If you have no luck finding a fork you can always have a frame builder chop and shorten the ends. Would also shorten the rake closer to track and you can get the clearance dialed.
Obs you would lose the chrome in the process but it wouldn't be the worst outcome to go painted like the frame.
Also I think the frame could use another couple layers of clear anyway so.. 2 birds.
    Looking forward to it.

  • Are you sure it's not supposed to have a 700c front wheel? The angles and bottom bracket drop look alright as is, and the toptube would be even steeper as it is right now.

And you said this fork is a road fork? How come it doesn't have a brake hole?

  • And you said this fork is a road fork? How come it doesn't have a brake hole?

been filled and painted to match the frame innit.

    Also the peloton is lovely

  • I'm really not sure from looking at other Tommasini air lo pros (there really aren't many), they all appear to have 650c fronts. There is only one that I saw that didn't but that one doesn't appear to have the original columbus air fork (2nd pic).

The brake hole has been filled.

  • Not sure I'd want to butcher the forks. Although they don't match the frame, they are still a pretty rare item!

  • Can we confirm that it's meant for 26"front wheel? The head tube seems to be longer than the 700/700 version posted above, matching the 26" versions. I would just take the fork to the vaz brothers and get it shortened and re sprayed to match the frame again. A matching frame an fork is worth more than just a frame and fork if that makes sense?

Build wise I wanna see some panto Tom parts, similar to @hugothenord1 s build but with bullhorns plz

  • I'm not sure that second bike is supposed to have a 700c front. A couple of things don't look right. Look how horizontal the stays look in the picture compared to the others. It would put the bottom bracket up above 300mm which is way too high. I also crudely put a ruler along the fork and headtube and the tyre contact patch should be quite a way ahead of where it is. I think it would be quite hairy to ride like that.

I think the way to confirm is probably to measure the bottom bracket height on yours with the two 700c wheels on. If it's 275-290mm from floor to centre then it's probably correct; any higher and I think it's wrong and should have a 650 or 26" front.

    But it's so pretty.

  • The second bike does definitely look wrong, even just be looking at the HT and ST angles. IMO, would be worth just checking yours on potatochop or with a cheap 650c fork and wheel before you modify/spend lots of money on matching-ish fork.

  • Are we agreeing that it is 650c then? I'll measure the bb height when I next get some wheels on it.

I've got a 650c wheel lined up so I'll keep my eyes out for a chrome 650c fork. As I said getting the parts will be slow, I'll have a bit of a budget when the Peloton sells

  • I can't wait to see how this Tommasini comes out, I definitely agree that the frame needs a 650c fork as it will enhance the vintage aero pista aesthetic even more. Great looking frame

  • Just spotted this on eBay and I kind of want it...
