Having recently spent 3 days in hospital/3 months on the sofa after a pedestrian caused an accident in similar circumstances, I can also empathise with the rider. It's a lottery who walks away without injury in these cases and no-one goes out looking for it to happen. I got a lot of support/sympathy from people around me which eased me back to a normal disposition, I hope Charlie and the Ped can get back to normal in the near future.
There will always be an element of doubt regarding your own part in any accident which can lead to a lot of different emotional responses. The knee jerk reactions going on in this and the other thread seem particularly cruel from some contributors, this is after all the friendliest forum on the internet.
b.t.w. Charlie, flowers are not welcome in most hospitals anymore. Apparently they help spread germs, aggravate allergies and create more work for nurses.
