Came off on ice at about 20mph (according to Garmin). Luckily the extent of the damage appears to be a smashed up knee, some rash on the hip, torn bibs and leg warmers, smashed bar end cap and a bent mech hanger.
Made it home.

Here it is, although I have now fitted a more appropriate ITM Millennium stem and bar.

Super slow super easy 35 miles (two of the five of us were quite not-strong), got a few sprints in though. The new to me Fullpro is so nice to ride. No idea why people dislike sram shifters, they are responsive enough.

I know, it doesn't really work but I had used the blue on my elder son's Cougar and only had the red or some celeste which would have been even worse!

Not the first time I've seen fly tipping there. Also last time I went down there there was so much gravel at the bottom that I almost stopped. The ascent wasn't much better with all sorts of rocks and mud that had been washed onto the road. I normally avoid it at this time of year.

Fucking garmin sent me back home 1/4 of the way through ride. Lasso-shaped route, I must have gone slightly wrong at some point. Have to check after taking a wrong turn that it snaps back to the route correctly. Did some hill reps around Richmond instead.

Fucking Garmin 1000. Barely enough battery life for 6hrs.
Running at around 1 punishment passes or angry/dumb shit per hour. Cunts. Fucking cunts. Love to be able to kill them where they stand and move on with my life knowing they won't be posing a threat to me again.
Happy Days :S

Tried to ride Ditchling Devil on Saturday - got wet and cold and came home after only 40 miles :(

Barely even counts as a ride. Got the train out to Eynsford for a short 20 mile spin in the rain, and to check out a route for sunnier days.
Managed about 5 miles as my partner got 4 punctures in quick succession. Ran out of tubes/patches so carried bike to nearest station and came home. Absolutely freezing.

Bit of a last min decision at lunchtime to do a CX jaunt round Kent. Found a route that Condor do, and astoundingly my Garmin worked for once. Lovely mix of flinty downhills, stupidly steep wet chalk climbs and mud so deep I ground to a halt on more than one occasion. Definitely got lost at one point and had to ninja my way out of some farmers field before they decided to yell 'gerroffmylaaaand' and get the shotgun out.
Underestimated actually how hard 40miles off-road would be, 90mins of heartrate at 187bpm (ouch) feeling pretty fucked now

is that https://www.condorcycles.com/blogs/route-club/44761025-kent-cyclo-cross-ride, and if so, how muddy is it this time of year?
Thank you

Think so, this was the route I used - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/10777303
Most of it was fine really, just a couple of sections of really boggy waterlogged mud dug up by horses that meant getting off and edging round them. Nice ride though!

I had a great ride out yesterday.
I'd been meaning to go to North Kent for a while and check out the Great Expectations marshy region between the Thames and the Medway. I set off via East London and Tilbury, which took in some lovely sites - suburbs, neglected horses, a lot of dead end roads, industrial wasteland and HGVs. The passenger ferry at Tilbury was a nice exception. There were a couple of old former sailors sitting in the waiting shelter talking to a young Polish woman who was waiting to cross about the history of the docks and their trips to Australia. When the ferry came they didn't get on it - their day out was just sitting watching the boats go by.
I made the mistake of trying to follow the Saxon Shore Trail instead of the bike path from Gravesend - the bike path is nice flinty gravel, the route I chose alternately muddy, sandy, and marshy, though it did take in a police firing range and an old ruined fort.
In a farm shop tea room in Cliffe I found out that the village Great Expectations was set in was one I had narrowly passed by, so I did a little loop back. A great day's riding all in all, not all of it was the best roads or scenery but I feel like I've pieced together a few more places I'd only seen on maps before, and earmarked other places I definitely want to return to when it's warm and sunny.

Not a weekend ride, but a Thursday ride. Took advantage of a clear and dry day to go and do 77miles/4500ft near Otley, North Yorks. It's been a while since I did some hills and 5+ hours of tempo means Strava thinks I'll take 5 days to recover.
Glad to have my first 150 mile week of the year done (when I add on tomorrow's club run).
Almscliffe crag. Beauty.

Yeah, 340W to do 18kph... on the flat.
The tailwind down Bledlow Ridge though made up for it.

its been a while since i was last on the road bike, turbo training appears to have been paying off as it felt easier to pedal today despite the wind.
after a few too many close passes i was wondering if i'd be better off on the turbo doing interval training and watching tv
but overall 8/10 would go for sunday pootle again

Decided to take advantage of the WSW with a ride to Sarf End and test out the new wheels that @t_w built for me. As they're 23mm, had to set up the brakes and then the PDW's just didn't want to sit nicely meaning the first 30 mins of the ride was spent stopping and adjusting, stopping and adjusting. Finally got it to a just about rideable state with minimal rub and what a lovely ride it was.
7/8 for new wheels and tail wind. Would bang again.
