Garmin software issue resolved. Turns out that if you disable it sitting in your system tray at startup, to stop it eating your RAMZ, then it ceases to behave well.

I do.
But 500 battery lasts for 24. Whereas have go charge 1000 twice a day. -
• #3079
I guess, but that's what external batteries/dynamos are for. I like having maps on the device so I can find stuff when I'm in unfamiliar territory.

Urgh, Garmin releasing shitty Express updates again? Why wont you fucking upload you bastard!?
-
• #3081
Anyone in the market for a Garmin 200 in PWO?
-
• #3082
Just considering options to use dynamo less.
I will most likely stick with 1000 as it works.
Might consider new one, so get new battery. As mines 2y old now... -

Are they that old already? Man Garmin are slow with new versions. They do manage to cram an impressive number of shitty bugs into each release though which is why I guess there's that time gap between iterations.
Considered doing a battery swap? I know some people have done it with the 800s and it looks simple enough. Not sure about the 1000s though.

Sorry year 6 months, I checked.
Yeah might do battery, but guess that leaves me open to messing with the internals.I've only just considered it tbh, will give it more thought on what to do.

Garmin Connect 'temporarily' down for anyone else?

Hey, that's a useful site ta.

I'm looking to get a garmin and would like the option for cadence and heart rate. It would just be for training but some routing options would be useful. My aldi still has the edge 500 at 90 euro. Is it still worth while to get a 500 over say the edge 25, its a lot cheaper? Cheers
-
• #3089
Yeah 500 is perfect for planned routes. 90 euro is a bargain.
-
• #3090
Pretty good. You can pick them up for around £45 second hand..

Does anyone in Canary Wharf have a Garmin that I can borrow this afternoon for 1 hour - I can have it back to them by home time this evening.

What's everyone's experiences with syncing from your Garmin Device to Express and/or iOS Garmin Connect ? Also subsequently auto-sync to Strava and/or Training Peaks from Connect ?
Getting hacked off with sync issues from a Polar device and considering switching

Does anyone have any issue with the separate speed / cadence sensors. My cadence sensor seemed to die on Saturday. I have only had it 6 months, I can't imagine it's the battery. Is it the battery?

You should probably check the battery.

I'm a relative newcomer to Garmin, got an Edge 520 this year. The auto-upload works perfectly with my Android device, via bluetooth, and then automatically to Strava.
Faultless.

It's fail city for me, upload via Bluetooth on my phone now works, upload via Garmin Express hasn't worked for months.

its good from my 920 to IPhone 5s but does sometimes forget...

• #3098
BTW, what's yer Strava activity naming all about?

Futility!

My forerunner 305 uploads using Garmin Express 9/10 time. When it fails I just sync again. It's no issue. Garmin to Strava works well.
I thought you loved the 1000?
So far it's been the best of the lot in terms of stability/reliability but I've still not used it on a long ride.
