  • not gonna go for the faded hatch / fishscale refinish?

  • maybe not, maybe just go blue (like the chromovelato oval cx)
chainstay chrome has some pitting, but forks crowns seem ok, so I may mask up the chrome when spraying

  • weird place for paint damage, maybe previous owner did cyclocross hurdles in a motorbike jacket with studs on the shoulders

  • this was the mexico, also needs a respray, one out , one in

  • may just get done in the same blue as ht/tt luggs tbh

  • From what I have been told by the painter I use that effect is pretty easy to replicate. He just uses plastic netting strategically wrapped around the tubing when he puts the second colour on.

  • mmmm, interesting, is he in UK and reasonable?
would be nice to restore I suppose, and it's only really a blue over silver fade
the ebay one does not seem to have the chain guard hook, or this 'fin' on the dt underside near bb shell

poor pic. looks like it's damaged irl, i presume this is also to do with chain guard

He's not the cheapest but the best I've found. Paints for Condor, BLB and some teams too. He had Ed Clancy's bike in a while back when he changed sponsors. I've never been disappointed in anything he's done for me. Single colour repaints are £120, he did a Super for me that he spent a fair time on taking dents out of a top tube, re threading fork, taking off some retro fit braze-ons, picking out club details etc and giving it a pearlescent finish and a 'faux' chrome fork crown. That cost me £220 which is pretty much the most you could have thrown at it but the frame cost me nothing so in the grand scheme of things worth every penny.

  • looks like its decent, and the price is fair, perhaps I should ask him for a quote, one tt cable guide is torn as well

  • thanks!

  • I'm taking my Elegant to him Wednesday afternoon for a repaint so PM me some pictures and a list of what you need doing to it other than replicating the decor and decals and I'll ask him if you like.

From experience he's great at painting but shit at doing emails.

  • fuck, he's only round the corner from my nephews

  • actually this should do for a picture

  • i'll get if off to him in the morning
i got a couple of pinarello mtb frames that need doing as well
will be back in NL end of month for a bit, i hope to get a confirmed qoute off the chromer there
I used to use unlimtedcolours.nl for paint work, but my collection is uk based now and I'm sure they have got more expensive, my get them to do the rabo dream cx though, jury's still out

  • Yeah the dream paintwork is a tall order. I seem to remember you saying something about them having painted team bikes in that decor some while back ??????

I'll look out for the Oval when I pick mine up in a couple of weeks.

I've always supplied him the decals wherever possible but he says he can source as well. Cyclomondo seem to do a near match anyhow

  • yes, they painted team stuff for rabobank giant and I saw the Belkin teams bikes in their spray chamber before
they do work for codagex, benelux colnago distibutor as well

  • they sell stuff as well, they have a master 55, not sure if sold

  • was looking at Greg Softleys decals, the gentleman differs slightly from the oval cx decals, has like a long yellow line and flourish after the colnago part, I imagine a good spray man would have the software to replicate

  • Definately, I was going to mention that. He's pretty good at doing the 'little things'.
I've asked Greg before if he'd modify his decals slightly for me before printing/cutting them but he couldn't. Seems weird as I guess it's only a quick modification in Illustrator/Photoshop or whatever he uses. I think it was more wouldn't than couldn't.

  • Very nice .............. but Dura Ace cassette, shame on them

  • these were 1 t0 99 made, if buyer, i'd want to see full paperwork

  • he's a funny one
i use the name corsacan to sell on the bay, i asked him something once and he said "corse you can't"

  • Yep, sure doesn't inspire confidence that you're buying an original limited from a a paint shop without the paperwork

Anyhow well out of my reach
