I did my first TT of the year this morning, the Ely & District Hardriders. @Cycliste was off early while I was number 88, so I had lots of time to get ready. While I was still putting my shoes/overshoes/tripstripshinsocks on the first victims of the technical nature of the course were returning, bloodied and bruised. There was a tailwind for the beginning of the course, leading to a potentially fast off-camber corner which was slippery due to the moisture left from the rain the day before. Quite a few people fell off there.
PNuT came past me just before the 12km mark (he started 2 minutes behind me) and went on to win with a 56 minute ride. I took things a bit more leisurely and did a long 1:04, but then my target was to go sub 1:05 so mission accomplished. And we won the team prize, which is nice.
The weather wasn't too bad - very cold, and very windy, but at least it didn't rain. It is a bloody hard course though, particularly with the wind from the NE.
