Where are your other pictures?
I can try and sort them out for you. -

What's with the cable eyes on the top tube?
-
• #530
It's probably a path frame so drilled for a rear brake.

Thanks, Tomo. Managed to add a better one.
PQR - frame is drilled for rear-brake, the original owner who had it custom made was running it as a SS. It also has a very old fashioned pump peg underneath the TT.All in all, I quite like it and is now my only bike.
I am plotting to acquire a road Mercian.

That's ace - the bar tape is so wrong it's right. Large frame and lots of seat pin on show, you must be one big unit!

It has taken a long time, but I've finally got me something from Derby.
This is a 1967 frame renovated by Mercian themselves, who seem to be selling the family silver at the moment.
Obviously, the saddle has to go, and I need to get some gum hoods for the levers, but otherwise it's good to go.
I reckon this is the best lug lining I have ever seen:

Very nice !

That's bloody lovely. Are you going to put a Brookes on it? You're right though, Mercian do appear to be having a bit of a clear out!

More likely to be a San Marco Concor than a Brooks TBH.

I decided not to get that Velocita they were ebaying, for no other reason than I thought the head tube too short. No bids, I think £500 was a great deal for something so rare and pretty.
Having been in the shop recently, they seem to be waking up to he fact that their brand heritage can shift merchandise and perhaps selling off old stock for space or to make it a more efficient business!

Instead of auctioning, they should put a top end buy it now price on it and include 'make offer'. That way they get what they want for it, without scaring bidders with massive starting prices.

They appear to have a stock room full of accumulated bits, they're always worth something to someone. I'm sure that Velocita will resurface somewhere, it's too nice to be locked away unbuilt. £500 is a steal (assuming it fits!)

I bought this bicycle recently and Im wondering if it was a good purchase or not as its another bike in my collection and I am trying to cut down. Im not sure if it is real Mercian or not.
It has number 88333 stamped on the bb, 27inch wheels with campagnolo hubs and wolber rims, Reynolds 531 renovated sticker on the seat tube. Its 57cm in size and feels a little big and isn't that light. It could be a renovated steel frame with decals? Here are some pics, would love some feedback

It doesn't look like Mercian paintwork to me but I might be wrong. There may be a Mercian frame underneath, if you send them the frame number they'll let you know for sure (for a price!)

Thanks DrJimmyMac the lugs look fairly plain to me compared to other Mercian, Im probably going to move it on as I have a few bikes already

The serial number looks 'mercian like' though....and mercian won't sell replacement decals without your serial number.....therefore it's tough for someone to fake one, although obviously not impossible.

Very nice. I think I might have seen your bike on Instagram. Was it recently painted?
Finally, trying to upload some pictures of my Mercian Vincitore Track.
(sorry for non drive-side picture, poor quality, etc... . The original picture is not uploadable for some reason)
