If you are on a budget, you should use a threadless bottom bracket - they are about £15.
As for the headset, you can either get the forks re-threaded to english/BSA which should be about £20 or buy cheap forks and a BSA headset.

If you're in London, there's a bike shop on Hoxton Street run by two French guys that refurbishes French bikes. They can probably sort you out.

Hi
I have several options for you.
From Campag to Shimano.
They are not dirt cheap but unlike modern items should have a very good resale value.
Pm if of interest

Last time I was in Hoxton Street that shop was not there and a gallery or some such has opened in the space. If you know where they have moved to do let me know?

It's definitely still there - I went past today- although it might have been a gallery over christmas? I seem to recall the same thing. Anyway, it's not open until 16th Feb and not on Mondays, from the sign on the door. It's called Auguste, I think.

Not sure if of any use, but I have a 25mm campag aero seatpost. Although if your frame is swankier tubing it'll probably be 26.4 or something.
Recently got an old gitane frameset that requires french size headset (25mm steerer) and bottom bracket (35 x 1mm thread, 68mm width). They seem a bit tricky to get hold of without shelling out big bucks.
Anyone with spares? Don't have to be in amazing condition. Just have to work. Thanks
