I can't get into his characters. Just seems like I'm watching 'Tom Hardy' every time.
It's the usual problem--actors are supposed to play roles that are not them, depending on whether they're able to play anyone other than themselves. However, films sell if the public like the actor. Hence, actors usually become successful if they play themselves (and most of those around today have zero acting ability, anyway, having been picked by agents for just that kind of popular appeal). Tom Hardy is probably like that, too, but I haven't seen any films with him, so actually have no idea.
I can understand him normally, not struggled before, my other half got really pissed off in The Drop, but the sound was poor in the cinema last night.
