Best measure first, @Eroika.pl could measure the steerer on the fork.
Then check with a frame builder to see if it's possible (affordable) to extend a threaded steerer.
-
• #28
You can just replace the steerer, and while you are doing that (when its removed) you can angrave logo on it.

heard there was place in london that did it for £50. I guess engraving and potential re-chroming is the expensive part though.
-
• #30
I talked to the guy at SeaBass and they said it can be done. They said they'd remove the current steerer completely and then weld a new longer one in.
-
• #31
You can engrave it without damaging the chromes.
-
• #32
Its the welding that would damage the chrome I would have thought.
Could just paint the top section I guess. Would look rather neat.

Beware - A Columbus Air frame without the correct Columbus Air seat-post isn't worth too much / is hard to shift!
-
• #34
In that case is it not better to just shorten the original forks with the air panto etc. or are we trying to save the chrome more than anything else?
-
• #35
Is shortening the forks a common practice. Seems rather crude.
Is it a matter of lopping off the ends and rewelding the dropouts? If so, would have thought the bend would be quite odd along with the blade widths. -

The fork issue is resolved, I have just purchased a set of 650c, track, columbus air forks :-)
-
• #37
And I may or may not of also purchased a columbus air track frame and the matching columbus air tt frameset (on the previous page) with them... I can't decide if it was a smart purchase or not, either way I'm pretty excited

I feel it is going to be a very long search.
2 days later...
I have just purchased a set of 650c, track, columbus air forks :-)
:D
Nice job though! Looking forward seeing this built. Judging by your other bikes it will no doubt come out great.

I got very luck! Many thanks to @Eroika.pl!
I have to decide what to do with this now :-)

Take note: this man speaks sense.

how big is it?
Potential dibs if 59cm+
-
• #42
That OSCA is amazing. Dibs if you sell at some point :P
-
• #43
It's 60x60, but it is very steep. Virtual tt length is 54 so it might fit me?? My Concorde lo pro was a 59 seat and that fitted me fine so fingers crossed!
I'm planning for an ultimate rat build

le sigh, thought you would sell.
Looks boss.
-
• #45
Too good to sell I'm afraid ;-)

Excellent progress being made. Well done.
I'm almost tempted to sell my Tommasini with all this enthusiasm for Air lo pros....Almost :) -
• #47
I have a serious lust for Columbus air, it's a thing of beauty

So now that the forks are sorted, I can move on with other parts. My budget is less after my splurg on the OSCA frames so no sheriff star wheels any time soon.
I'm in the process of buying a c-record crankset and hopefully a bb. I'm just going to use my spare rear wheel I Have for the time being, and on the front I'm getting a standard 650c front that he has. I'll nick a saddle and seatpost from one of my other bikes for now, probably same story with cockpit. Need to sort out some pedals, the c-record ones would be nice but it depends on cost.
In the future I'd like a Cinelli 2A stem, some pursuit bullhorns (probably la84's), c-record aero post.

Do you have a spare 650c fork left?
-
• #50
Nope, sorry
It'll be pretty close.. I think I'll take a chance though. I can get the steered extender if worst comes to worst right?
