  • That looks far more complicated than a cargo bike need be.

    If you're going to be riding with big loads (>50kg) frequently, I'd recommend the Bullitt over the Omnium.

    If, on the other hand, you'll spend alot of time riding it empty, or with smaller loads, the Omnium is more manoeuvrable and alot of fun to ride.

    @Jon. - Omnium was never on my wish list as the load level is too high.

    That Douze direction is done by cables and not a bar like the Bullitt.
    You can also split it in two.
    And it is french made.

    It has my vote so far

  • I was joking. I've done about 1,500 miles on a bullitt in hilly Bristol and i definitely rate them highly. That Douze thing does look way more complicated than it needs to be as Jon said

  • Bullitt ride like a normal bicycle that happen to be a bit long.

    Find a Bullitt and test ride it (if you have test ridden the Douze).

    I rate Bullitt very highly too, was impressed with how it ride.

    I thought they rode the same way but I prefer having a step through frame as it is easier to mount / dismount when loaded.

  • I agree about the step through frame. But in my experience you only really feel the need for this when the bike has a really heavy load. A good piece of advice I was given was to really think about what you will be carrying most often and get the smallest cargo space you can get away with. The smaller the cargo area, the more the bike rides like a normal bike.

  • Is that not what the kickstand for? (To make it easier to get on/off).

  • Have you tested out the step through with a load? I wonder if it flexes much more. Flex on the front end of the Omnium can be a little scary with 80kg or more on board.

    Loading and unloading on the Omnium can be a bit of a balancing act due to the stand but I've never had a problem mounting a heavy bike, though I am fairly tall.

  • Just bumped into a pal who's a windercleaner, does some rounds in Chelsea and west side of sarf. Used to rib me about cyclists being in the way while he drives his van (all very gentle, he used to tour 15 or 20 years ago).

    Havent seen him for months. Today he showed me his new transport setup, he's absolutely bloody LOVING it. Adapted a trailer to extend it fixing an 8foot section of ladder as the base for all his work ladders and bits. Brilliant, ingenious and practical.

  • Wondering what your opinions are about this bike.

    This is one of the bikes a ride around at my job. The german Radkutsche. It has a different riding sensation and looks than a normal bike. But it does one hell of a job of moving big volume. I don't really see it as a bicycle, but more as a hybrid vehicle.
    Here one with a custom crate on it.


  • I bump into this guy on my travels a lot, and the wagl guys are mates who do cargo bike deliveries.

  • It was broke on Friday.

  • Seen you guys riding around town, the Radkutsche looks a bit wide and impractical for Ghent streets tbh. But things should improve next year ;)
