Whilst I've no doubt an f1.7 will increase your error rate (vs. the f2.8 on my Yashica) I've found it surprisingly forgiving and come to love the combination of P&S immediacy with aperture control that you get from zone focussing (I like to feel like I'm in control, but often can't be arsed with peering into a viewfinder and twiddling a lens)
Thinking about selling my Pen D3..... but keep finding photos I like. It's just hard work getting them with now way of checking the focus.
