  • Great day out in the sun. Surely the best London based ride?

Well done on signposting this year, much lower attrition rate this time. Though whoever put that one up in as we left Covent Garden which tried to send us down a dead end alley needs some training!

  • @Jonny Hehe. I was much happier than I look there for the rest of the day. Thanks for letting me tag along dude. And for setting brutal pace up some of the hills. I live at the bottom of Canonbie and ride or run it most weeks but man, I was struggling to keep up by then (and secretly grateful when my chain came off 2/3of the way up). I could blame the beer and pub snacks again but i'm basically just making excuses. Hope I can buy you back that pint after another ride soon. Vive le Classic!

  • @hairnetnic I look forward to you being part of the signage team next year

  • @Apone, was great to see you out there dude. i was happy with the pace we kept all round. great little group that. sorry i didn't really catch you for a G at the end. was happy to sit in the dark room watching the Big Boys Roll and then didn't see after. yeah, catch you on the road again soon i hope.

  • If you mean Hanover Place there is fuck else place to put a sign up apart from the twee quality street lampost thats directly opposite the entrance before the L turn on to Bow St. Nobody else has complained and that arrow has been in that place for 5 previous Classics.

  • Thanks to all from the forum for your enthusiasm once again. We are on course to break £7k to give to the Evelina, so thank you all for your generosity.

  • Well it doesn't really matter, the ride is far too good to worry about the odd arrow but there are two lampposts opposite the exit of floral street and two no entry signs.

  • Police are generally not keen on using 'highways hardware' as they put it to me. Hence the use of this twee lamp post. Riders are also generally looking to the L for the signs...but we take all feedback onboard.

  • I only mentioned it because it was quite funny as the front 4 started to head down the alley while the 5 following looked on dubiously!

I know for next year now!

  • More pictures here

  • Had a great day, will ride again 10/10

  • " I found the pave particularly harsh this year" - er nothing to do with the bike? Nice riding with you, thanks for waiting at the top of the hills. Good to see a few faces I haven't seen in a long while. Seems like there were plenty more that I missed.
Thanks to the organisers for a grand day out.

  • ^That was my Johan Museeuw Paris Roubaix finish line tribute :-)

  • and @Oliver Schick (well, until we started to gain altitude anyway)

I'm a liability when it comes to losing altitude, too. :)

  • If anyone lives near the route and fancy collecting signs that would be greatly appreciated.

  • NO London Classic this year - officially at least..
    http://www.thelondonclassic.org

  • Nooooooooooo! What a shame.

  • SUCKS!

  • Gutted!

  • We could surely rally together and just ride it en masse anyway right?

  • Or just offer to the organisers to support them this year?

  • Do you mean to say you know about the reasons for No Classic this year?

  • Oh shit...

    I didn't click the link.
Is it a staffing/finance issue preventing it?
If that's the case, surely there's enough support that we could all help out?

I've paid my fees in the past, bought the t-shirts and taken down a few arrows in my area to help out but it wouldn't be a big deal to help out further.

I'm not exactly sure what we could give via Cycle PS Battersea but we have the weight of a bike shop to offer support if that would help.
