About 90% of my commuting was done in them too but recently have put spds back on my Pompino so not wearing for that as much.
Cost about £30 from Sportsdirect, are actually pretty waterproof but water will get in the top if splashed or will soak in through your tights etc.

What about cycling specific shoes for flat pedals? I had been using a pair of Lidl SPD ones with the cleats plate taken out and they've been fine but they are about to die, let water in in heavy rain and looked gash.
