  • What about cycling specific shoes for flat pedals? I had been using a pair of Lidl SPD ones with the cleats plate taken out and they've been fine but they are about to die, let water in in heavy rain and looked gash.

  • Well, it's a good question, in theory you should be able to use any shoes, some company sell cycling specific shoes like Merrell, abet not many choices due to the popularity of clipless touring shoes.

    Best I found are shoes like the Vans Authentic that's great for touring with flat pedals.

    Adidas original Gazelle got my vote too.

  • Yeah, I do use my normal shoes in the summer (or dry weather) but I find that my boots aren't comfy for riding in weather that isn't good. The Lidil shoes I had were basically Merrell rip off with rubbish SPD attachements. Going to look at some downhill flat shoes like Teva & Five Ten.
