  • I'm pretty sure I've broken the 4th or 5th metatarsal in my foot after what seemed like a fairly innocuous stumble a couple of weeks ago. Work means I've not really been able to stay off it which hasn't helped but needs must and all that.

Is there much point in going hanging out at A+E for a few hours to get this verified or should I just strap it up and soldier on? Also, cycling. Yes or no?

  • If it hurts and what you are doing day-to-day hurts then you need to stop it and get treatment. Which might just be a "strap on" cast. If you continue without treatment/rest it will heal but take many times longer but then you probably knew that really. My sprained ankle which I didn't look after still niggles me after more than a year.

  • I recently broke my 5th metatarsal and couldn't even think about moving my foot without being in agony for a month. The fact you're still standing means it probably isn't broken.
