I ride flats on most of my bikes (not on fixed) and I prefer the large platform style of pedal. Even with a toeclip fitted I can't comfortably ride the quill/ratrap style pedals
because I feel like my feet are falling off the side of them.
I'm a big fan of DMR V12s though I've never thought they were worth the rrp so have always bought them used. I have one set that's must be about 14years old now, have been used on everything from bmx bikes to commuters and have never been opened up, lubricated, had any pins replaced or really ever been cleaned. I've owned a few sets of V8s too but wouldn't put them in the same class, the V12 is well worth the price premium.
The Wellgo DX shape pedals are almost as good as the DMRs and a fraction of the cost. I have bought a few sets of them new. Again though, don't bother with the open bearing version, go sealed.
I've also used those Odysseys in my last post, sharkbites, loads of metal bmx flats (primo etc) and a few random sets of plastic bmx pedals, and a few sets of the Odyssey Twisted plastics.
The Twisteds are the only plastic pedal I'd pay for now and I've currently got a set on my bmx. The grip is close to thatof the V12s and they are good for using with straps like Restrap etc as you can easily carve off pins to make getting in and out of the straps a bit easier.
I've got a set of Eastern (Ithink) plastic platforms on my shopping bike but they ain't at all great in the wet.
