Well... I just hope he used a sufficiently loud starting signal.

• Video evidence of the entire record attempt, from start to finish that enables us to confirm the measurement achieved, that the guidelines have been adhered to and verify the details provided by the independent witnesses.

Also 8760hours worth of video footage is probably more arduous/expensive to collect and curate than an automatic live tracker...

I don't think you would need to video people sleeping. It's not like they're going to need to verify when you're not riding.

OK, so halve it. Still a stupid amount of video. 6 months non-stop watching.

Elsewhere I saw that for events longer than an hour Guinness only require 2 minutes per hour to be recorded, as well as the point that people start/stop. So that reduces it down to ~150 hours. At 6GB/hour (for 720p) you could fit that on a 2TB HDD.
