The Chinese supermarket at the E&C end of Walworth Road isn't a bad (or expensive) place to start... Nothing like the REAL thing but... Good supermarket anyway if you don't know it, cheaper than the place in Brixton and more choice...

Thanks guys.

You can also stop at the Walworth Road Turkish grocer on the way back and pick up bread, cheese and olives... Nom... All the food...

Sous vide rump from sunday. Damn it was good - not the best pic I'm afraid, was too busy devouring. That was 2-3 hours at 52 degrees, then about 30-45 seconds per side in a really hot heavy pan.
The best, best thing about sous vide is the ability to make those slightly tougher cuts incredibly tender. So all you people with no taste buds who think fillet is the best cut - you'd have your minds blown. -

About halfway up on the left (going towards E&C), loads of fruit and veg stacked out front...

Yes!
Round cheese, lots of it...

I ate Mrs A's homemade gooey banana bread drowned in extra thick double cream on getting in from the studio last night. Made it extra healthy by adding a few large scotch nightcaps to wash it down. Cuts through the fat innit. Slept like a log.

Oli's is the only thing I'm missing about Walworth since moving, any equivalents in Peckham? Can't find similar tasty bread anywhere.
Found some stuff in Khan's but that Oli's bread is awesome. I spose I'll just have to make a detour on my way home.

I feel a walworh road shipping trip coming in strong. Might pop into sports direct to get some trainers and one of those furniture shops to get a black and white leather sofa with mahogany trim.

Pearl barley and vegetable broth from here was excellent: http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/jan/16/pearl-barley-recipes-batch-cooking-get-ahead-rosie-reynolds
Does anyone have a good Tuna steak recipe? But probably not carpaccio or sushi given it's from the supermarket :)

Turkish round cheese?
Haven't tried a round one but there's a great Turkish shop at the end of my road so I'm game. Is there a particular brand/type?'
Our shop sells this amazing bread from the Yildirim bakery in Walthamstow. Sadly not their gözleme but I guess they don't travel as well.

I just know it as 'the round cheese'... Ferociously delicious...

There's a fabulous Turkish deli/butcher/supermarket on Grange Road in Bermondsey... Even better than Oli's, I used to schlep up there from Brixton all the time...
-
• #22748
you mean this?
..agreed

Oli's sell Talagani which is an awesome round cheese, Greek though. It's a bit like haloumi but actually tastes of something.
Grange road is on the way to the brewery so I'll have to look out for that one.

It's like a firmer but much tastier feta IMO, really moreish... I'll ask around for it here, big Greek community in Brisbane...
BTW It's the St James Supermarket, corner of St James's Road and Grange Road...
Winner, winner, goat head soup dinner...
