Anybody thinking about what they would like to achieve in the coming season?
Stop being a hard on about trying to do the whole season fixed.
Contest the regional Saturday open series -10 rounds, mixed distances and courses. I would like to think I might be competitive if only by having the tenacity to get points in every round. I took the club series last season in much the same way.
I've got my eye on the course record for the hillclimb at the end of the season, wasn't a million miles of this time round on fixed.Perfect conditions though.
Get a 20 minute 10 on a local course.

Everybody is: http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk/index.php?showforum=164

I'd fancy doing an 18 on fixed (only Dangerfield, Boardman and Obree I think), current best 19:33. As well as breaking into the 19s on K courses (K33/10D, K11/10T). Also some track stuff later in the year including masters nationals 3km pursuit.

Don't get involved in that forum, not my cup of tea. Just wondering about active correspondents in this thread.

Don't get involved in that forum
Sound advice, it manages to be simultaneously over- and under-moderated :-)
@umop3pisdn and @Sainsburys_Ed have posted their 2016 targets on there.

22.5mph 12hr
26.5mph 100
27.5mph 5025mph + average for BBAR gives me a bit of wiggle room in the above.

A couple of targets for me:
an 18 on the UC251 (8.3 Miles) - best last year was 19.13
a 21 on the U7b (10M)
a 20 10M
sub 55 for 25MNot sure I will have time for anything longer than a 25 (apart from maybe some hardriders) but maybe a sub 2hr 50.
On a related note - our clubs "Mega-Hilly" TT isn't on this year, any suggestions for a VERY hilly TT?

Buxton Mountain TT
Hmm - bit of a trek from Bristol, wondering about the Little Mountain TT instead: http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/open_races/lmtt/index.html

Supposed to be good. I have a couple of old clubmates doing the hilly TT circuit this year.

Given your times last year I'm sure you'll be good for the sub 2 hr 50. I got a 1'58" last year on our rolly course on 53x15. Two days later I mullered my 25 PB on the same course which sadly brought the realisation that I hadn't been training hard enough.

A friend is involved in organising it, is meant to be a very good event.

TTF is a weird place at times, some interesting stuff but an awful lot of people with too much time on their hands!
Aims for the year is to get faster!
sub 21 for a 10 current PB 21:48 on h10/2
52 minute 25, current PB 55:02 on P885/25
sub 2 50, current PB 2:01:55 on H50/8
Sub 4 100, "PB" is 4:46 on H100/8 as my first ever time trial a few years ago...think the 10 and 50 are probably the easiest to achieve, the 100 shouldn't be too hard, while the 25 is going to be a bit of a stretch!

Sounds like my aims for this year are similar:
- sub-21 10 (current PB 21.48 on F2/10D)
- sub-55 25 (current PB 56.59 on E2/25)
- do a 50
- win one of the club TT's outright - I've beaten all of the club's fast guys individually, just never all at once...
Lots of other targets too, but they relate to long distance endurance stuff.
- sub-21 10 (current PB 21.48 on F2/10D)

For me its get as close to a 21 as possible for a 10 (pb is 22:42 and annoying as I was not feeling well and was down 25 watts), and not on the E2 or F11/10.
Break the hour on a Q course (1:00:16 last season). -
• #11545
Were you not tempted to shoot for a 20:59? It's only 11 seconds. :-)
-
• #11546
My aim is to qualify for the national 10's although the course wont do me any favours if I do.
Only open 10 last season was a 23.07 with clip ons, so a way to go yet. I'm on the turbo a bit though and built up a cheap TT bike so. -

I want the more club records. I need to get away from the H courses and try some more magic places...
10mi - 19:55 (20:53, H10/22)
25mi - 50:36 (55:12, H25/1)
50mi - 1:50:12 (1:51:09, R50/1b)
100mi - 3:45:47 (3:52:?, H100)All of these conflict with training for ultra stuff though so not sure how likely they are.

I'd love to do a sub 50 25 on a normal course.
25 is the best distance.
-
• #11549
Why does it conflict?
-
• #11550
presumably because spending time tapering/travelling/racing/eating cake afterwards is time that would be better spent riding far....
Anyone on here riding USE Tula aerobars? Any problems with the extensions or armrests slipping? Ta.
