Am I alone in this? I opened an (rare for me) on-line purchase from Rapha - a merino wool top - and was disappointed to find a Made in China label inside. Doesn't seem right somehow. On many levels. Anyway it's going back.

got the brevet gilet in the sale just before years end. quite flimsy, but combines nicely with a long sleeve merino base and a long sleeve jersey. took it for a dry ride at dusk on monday and bodytemp was regulated nicely. pt rain gilet would have been too warm I reckon.

It's okay, no actual Chinese people touched the garment.

Ref made in China - nothing wrong with RAPHA quality MADE IN CHINA - and I don't have a choice in which computer I use. Nope - it's just that I'd like my investment in a purchase to find it's way into the UK economy more directly rather than via the bank account of wealthy Chinese investors buying property. Similarly I'd like the steel that goes into the buildings that are the offices and houses where I live to be made in the UK too. But evidently that's a lost cause as well.

Feeling a tad sensitive - celebrated(?) 60 yesterday. Started the day with the news of the death of David Bowie then the Rapha episode......my world is falling apart. My bones ached from riding carbon on London's roads and the mousse in my birthday cake melted on the way to work. Glad that's over!

Rapha Imperial Works is all handmade by only British-born children that can trace their lineage back to Ethelred, with only a smattering of muggle interbreeding.

Genuine question; what are you going to go for instead?

Assos - made in Switzerland by Yodel'ers
I would say yes, it is flimsy compared with others, it does its job as a very packable emergency layer but I would never choose it to take on a ride if I had other options. The PT Lightweight Gilet is also a nice, very packable item, not really any stock left though now.
