Particularly that app. How anyone ran anywhere ever without it is a mystery. Glad you're getting out & muddy, am working on sorting my run commute route to avoid exhausts, got it a bit wrong today but found a new industrial estate away from the busier roads.

Only record a smigen of runs tonight's wanting to know exact distance for future mapping creation. Sure you can find the Routes needed.
Calshit tommorrow gonna take a goose down sleeping bag to sit in ... -

Have started recording more for keeping tabs on my mileage as don't want to do too much. Also defaults me into this game, like thoughtless maprunning I guess: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/checkpoints.php
Do some hill reps on the ski slope to keep warm whilst you're at calshot ;)

Been upto the A58 above Littleborough to catch The Spine racers, timed it perfect to see my clubmate pass through, and to find @user49586 in the pub looking well fed & happy... chapeau & good luck for the rest of the race!
Much respect to all taking part, it is brutal out there this time of year.

3 weeks and 70 miles into the marathon training plan. Strangely satisfying seeing the miles tot up on the spreadsheet. By the time I've run the marathon I'll be at almost 600 miles which seems like an awful lot.
Yesterdays long run was nice, quite muddy in places and almost lost a shoe in the gloop, washed the mud off off by splashing through some knee deep puddles. Quite cold and a bit of a shock but quite fun and refreshing. And I saw a kingfisher just before I got home, always a bonus.

^ Good work!
3 weeks and 0 miles into the marathon training plan. (To be fair, mine started back in September, and did manage a 50k week at one point).
Starting again today though.

I thought I'd start my plan early, as I'm finiding it hard to fit it all in around kids and house hunting. Plan finishes a month prior to marathon, so once I've got the endurance built, I'll keep it up and work a bit more on speed.
Last week was the biggest in a while at 33.5mi in total.
@Arducius - Jason and I are doing this if you fancy something a bit different and joining. Would be cool to catch up.

Anyone here use a watch with a optical HRM? Thinking of getting one but just wondering what opnions are of them.

See some of the DC Rainmaker reviews. He's very good and fair at comparing things and praising them if they're honestly good:-
http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2015/11/garmin-fr230-fr235-review.html
http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2016/01/garmin-fenix3hr-preview.htmltl;dr is that Garmin's optical HR is good (i.e. they pretty much match what a chest strap measures) except for a shortish period when you ease up as the optical bit tends to think you're still pushing harder than you are.
You'd need to search for a specific watch if you've got one in mind. The optical HR from other vendors will probably be different.

It would J! I've been meaning to get down and catch up with you guys and this event looks good but I've been told that's the day of the joint birthday party for my son and the other sprogs from our NCT group!
Any other good looking events in the area?

Anyone doing the Surrey Half in March?
Just found out I've been picked to run for Kent in an Inter-counties 20 mile road race championships (incorporated into the Essex 20 mile champs), early March. 4 man team. I was training for half marathon distance anyway, so this'll make sure I get the miles in. My first County vest! And a relatively obscure distance, so it'll be good for the rankings. :)
