I was going to brag about how my gr1v still works fine after all the shit I've put it through but today it stopped working fine... the power button won't turn it on (although it will turn it off). It will turn on if I take the battery in and out so I guess I can use it but it still sucks. Plus the motor is clearly getting weaker each roll I shoot and I've had a couple of overlapping frames.
On the other hand I just bought a Pentax 6x7 (for less than £100 in uk money!), maybe it means it's time for a change of style.

Sad to hear about the Ricoh.
I guess they will become extinct by 2020..GR1V to Pentax 67 is quite a style change I must say!

Thought as much.
Both of mine have bust LCD and one makes a hell of a racket when winding film but I think it still works... -

FE2 has good memories for me :)
was my first own proper camera and got good use for many years, but one sad day a rivet fell out of the shutter and the leaves all crumpled... -

This looks interesting: http://www.kodak.com/ek/us/en/Consumer/Products/Super8/default.htm
Kodak going back into super 8!Over Christmas I dug out my Grandparents' old Eumig p8 and spent a few hours getting the thing working. The projector itself is incredibly well made (my granddad always bought top end stuff), which was proven by the fact it worked after so long sitting doing nothing.
I managed to project some 8mm stuff from as far back as '59. Seeing moving footage of my Mum aged 8 was a bit crazy.
Sadly, after getting through a few rolls of film, disaster struck and the projector stopped playing - and I was faced with the nightmarish image of the film melting in front of me!
A quick investigation found that the projector's drive belt had snapped, the 60 year old rubber had finally perished. This was actually a bit of a relief that it was something so simple and no delving into the gears and motor was required. Sourcing the part couldn't have been easier - Googling "Eumig P8 drive belt" gave me an ebay ad as the first result, £3.75 later it was on its way (even marked as shipped on Christmas Day!).
There's no real point to this rambling story, but I managed to capture some of the films on a little digital compact. The quality is a bit pants and the content no doubt irrelevant but I thought I'd share all the same.

What I will say, is that the quality of the video is incredible - the resolution (which isn't done justice on the youtube version) is remarkable considering each frame is smaller than your pinky finger nail. And watching these films feels so intimate and special I really do hope Kodak manage to make this new super 8 thing work as I'd love to shoot some myself.

Couple bits to sell that I'm gonna chuck on eBay but thought I'd try here?
Olympus OM Mount Mitsuki lenses (Rebranded Tokina lenses)24mm f2.8 - £10
80-200mm f4 - £20
400mm f5.6 - £70
All glass is perfect condition and all with caps front and back and uv filtersAnd this Ricoh 35fm which I've never used but it mechanically works perfectly. It has no battery so I can't comment on its exposure metering.
its nice and small and light too, 40mm 2.8 - £20?

Cheers, glad you like them.
I guess I have probably shot 200 of those in the last year, and (just looked at my tumblr) have kept 20.
Probably I'll shoot another 100, keep ten of them, and then reduce the whole group to, say, seven.
Yeah big would be nice ..but as I mentioned before I'm limited by my camera's 12MP sensor - the ones shot on (35mm) negatives I could scan to a higher resolution in theory, but they don't really deliver more than 12MP either.. -
• #10995
Yeah wire and spin round in circles, super old school form of model aircraft flying, definitely eccentric :)

You're based in Berlin right?
Me and my GF are heading there tomorrow for a couple days, anywhere decent to pick up film? Also meet for a coffee if you got any spare time?
-
• #10997
Foto Impex has almost everything that's available, prices are good, too.
Also you can check the drugstore "dm" for cheap Kodak Gold, and Agfa CT Precisa.Would love to go for coffee alas I'm super busy this week, sorry!
Bring windproof clothing!

This has been asked thousands of time but where's the best place to send your photos to to get developed and scanned to cd?
-
• #10999
Where do you live? There is an out of date list in the first post of this thread that might help. Some people use ASDA for very cheap scans, but the quality is variable.
