It is a profession which seems to attract more than its fair share of bastards, but then so would coffee dealing if that were prohibited.
Fun fact: the USA didn't feel any need to limit private citizens' access to machine guns until the disastrous experiment with alcohol prohibition went the way every sensible person knew it would.

Cha, if people are willing to take the (in my view) unnecessary cost in human life, that's up to them. But yes, once people have something and you try to take it, good luck and have fun.
Legal drugs use doesn't kill (very many, unless prescription drugs in USA/paracetamol) people, and as you rightly point out the war on drugs does. But such nuances are lost on the general audience, generally speaking as of course some people do know, and only cause a massive amount of shitstormness if you run a group to change something.
But drug dealers/users are bad people, right? ;)
