Haaa, love the old school BR logo!
Yeah you do see the world from a different perspective doing a night shift track side. Great seeing how the whole network carries on after the last train is in. I've never done a night stint in London though. Had a chance to do one at Liverpool St, but plans changed. That would have been good.

You see some odd things.
I got called out at night to a spill on a level crossing (which we had closed) in SE London last year. When I got there the first thing I saw was an old lady in her nightgown running down the track being chased by the BTP and loads of men in orange. Apparently she's fairly well known in the local area for having a mooch about when railway works take place there.
