Not too closely linked, but I do a lot with the civils stuff - gantries, signal posts, REB & LOC bases, right through to new structures and all the stuff that comes with new bits of railway.
I don't directly get involved with the S&C in the main, but where there is new track kit going in there is always ballast etc going in/out and us envo lot get all the testing and waste work.
Same thing with the trackside at night seeing all the kit and the world from a different perspective. Over NYE the folk on the viaducts got a great view of the fireworks/ensuing carnage :)

Ok. Quite along way away from my old role then. I used to design points. Big heavy dirty engineering. Mainly CAD/ office based but went track side a fair bit at night to test stuff that didn't work. Stock rolling past at 3am. Good laugh.
