Hello, looking for some advice I have narrowed my helmet choice down to a coupe and I was wondering if anyone could perhaps tell me what they think.
I am stuck between the POC Octal Race day and the Giro ATMOS II. What do you guys think?

Assuming that they are both equally comfortable then the POC. It's more rad.

Picked up the POC this morning.

Previous helmet was a Giro Savant, new helmet is the Giro Foray - so far, so good. Fit is the same as the savant and I like the lack of pointy bits at the rear. Overall, for £37 I'm not sure what else you need? If anything, the finish is not as good as the Synthe that it's design is based on, but meh.
Recommended if you fit Giro shaped helmets. -

Anyone interested in an orange poc octal in M ?
-
• #786
If they fitted my head, yes, but I have a long and narrow bonce and they don't work for me.

Might be a good time to get a new helmet since mine is past its sell by date... but I'm really not up on the current lids.
Narrow head, 58cm, mostly used for commuting, budget let's say up to £150 but under £100 preferred. Removable pads inside is a must.
I'm currently wearing a Specialized Echelon which fits perfectly. I really like the dial thing on the back for clicking it tighter or looser. My only gripe is it looks MASSIVE on my tiny bonce so something slimmer in profile would be nice this time round.

Giro may not fit but I found the foray to be a close fitting and small appearing helmet. Looks normal on my tiny head...54cm! Try before you buy I guess

I think that's the problem - I've only got Evans and Specialized in Kingston for trying on, so it's a limited choice. I guess I could take advantage of Wiggle returnZ.

Sigma is close I would think?
-
• #791
Yep, free wiggle returns, if you can afford to, order 2 or three then return the unused ones. Good sales at the moment.

I tried both the Synthe and Foray, Synthe Resulted in significantly less 'mushroom head' effect, despite both being the same size. It was also slightly more comfortable, the fit system seemed very good. Much more expensive though.

Worth the extra £80 or so? I've been looking at the foray and it seems like amazing value? It's only 35g heavier than the synthe (not that I'm too bothered by weight). Was the mushroom head effect drastic? Serious question.

Between Evans and Sigma you'll find most popular options. Sigma is over the bridge, right at the mini roundabout and on the left hand side a few down from the guitar shop.
Fwiw I just went from an Echelon to an Evade in the end after trying on everything I could find sub £150. It was the best fit on my head by far, but it's long at the front so you can't put the peak up on your cap. -

That's who I meant by Specialized. Brain couldn't think of the actual name :D
-
• #796
Second the Synthe, I get a severe mushroom head with just about every helmet I try, much less with the Synthe.
-
• #797
Ah, I've got myself confused then. I didn't know they were over there. Good to know

I tried them on in different shops on different days, so I can't say exactly how big a difference. Tried the Synthe, wanted to buy it, but it's pretty pricey. Heard about the Foray, also thought it looked great value, tried it on, was disappointed. Quality obviously not as good as the Synthe, but OK for the price. Bulkiness put me off.
Will probably give in and buy the Synthe at some point, but I spend too much money on bike stuff. It is really nice.

Ah no worries. I know your predicament. Too much £££ but we want nice things. Ha
