and when we take cost of living etc into account, they are pretty equivalent sums in their own countries.
frame builder should also know how to design frames, non?
In an ideal world yes. But you have to pay for the extra service.

Just to chime in here, since we're doing anecdotal stuff, I bought my rychtarski primarily based on the workmanship and trademark details id seen on his other work.
Perhaps I got lucky, perhaps it helped that I referenced a previous frame of his and wanted very similar detailing. I was also very specific about my needs. (I didn't explain stuff like bottle cage mount position).
But all told I am super pleased and can't fault the work. To be fair I still haven't fully built the thing having been injured for most of this year, so fingers crossed I haven't missed something...
I went to the guy for him to build my idea, and I believe he did that well. As per others if I wanted more design input I would have looked elsewhere.

Also, I understood that the price was a fair reward for the work done, else I wouldn't have bought it.

Don't forget to show off after you build it up.

seems a bit off u need to specify 'put the bottle bosses in the usual position & make sure the chain stays are symmetrical' when ordering your frame but iunno

AS I said before, I am very happy with his frame build quality. Mistakes can happen to anyone. If I had doubt about his craftsmanship skills I wouldn't order 4 frames from him. Moreover, in my experience the guys from Rychtarski always willing to help to resolve the issues. The asymmetrical chain stay does not have any negative effect on the frame. The frame was checked by a frame builder on a frame alignment table and everything has been ok. After showing Rychtarski the bottom bracket problem he said he will replace me the frame. And one last thing- here In USA for the same work done one would pay double the price.

Rychtarski is a frame builder, not a frame designer.
hahaha
"sorry you didnt mention you wanted your bb to be centered"
"oh, you intended to use gears on this road bike?"
sorry but these are just mistakes, not a lack of specifying frame details. By the sounds of it Kuba has agreed to fix both of these, which is great.

was it even lech rychtarski who built it? doesnt he have a couple apprentices nowadays?
either way extremely happy with my pursuit frame, however on about 95% of rear wheels i use i notice the tyre sits about 2.5mm to the left, and not exactly under the bridge. at first it really annoyed me and i guess its just an error, but hey.

Maybe try to properly space your wheels, on the wheel i got from you i had to put almost 1cm of spacers to make it 120mm and centre it.
-
• #161
You have tried 20 wheels and one is ok in the frame?
-
• #162
I did do the spacer thing a couple times, however with that disc, that was one of the ones that would centre properly
@dancing james lol I c wut u did thur but they are all "ok" it just isn't ocd-friendly

Lech hasn't been building them for a while. Kuba, his son, did mine. Again - I've no problem with the quality of the frame. It's top quality stuff - just the boss placement. I'm over it. Just a bit annoying.

Fendered up my Rychtarski for the winter.
To comment on the entire problems with new Rychtarski frames - "Only" problem when i got the frame was an ovalized headtube, so went back for a reaming. -
• #168
i don't get the whole problem. if something is wrong/not as ordered, send it back and let them fix it on their costs.
-
• #169
sending them back costs money. Also they dont admit they have fucked up quite easily.
-
• #170
Atleast in my case they did, and they made a new fork without me having to send old back or anything.

i asked rych what would their tubing recommendation be for touring/winter frame:
- columbus spirit
--> got an orlowski.
