  • Had another BYO beer tasting last night. Sampled the attached. Didn't feel so hot this morning.

I did really enjoy the smoked beer and sours. May start hunting out a few more of those in the new year.

  • Looks like my kitchen.

  • Just with less beer.

  • So Camden Brewery have been bought by AB InBev. This has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works for the United Craft Brewers thing they set up with Brewdog now that Brewdog are doing their usual, we are not selling their beer anymore toy throwing.

Not sure what the plan is for them. I heard InBev were going to sell Meantime when the merger happens. I assume this might be why due to competition rules or something. I'm not a fan of their beers and I wouldn't be happy with the uncertainty of the merger myself but good luck to them.

  • Mountain Goat (my first foray into 'craft beer' many years ago in Melb) have been sold to Asahi.

  • The end is nigh!

  • Weren't they only recently looking for investors advertising on the tube? Presume no one actually got in on that? Looked like they tried crowd-funding and got a better offer.

  • Camden Fosters

  • "It recently raised more than £2.75 million in an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube, surpassing a £1.5 million target, to fund expansion."

  • Yeah I know a lot of people who invested in the crowdfunding and are wondering wtf has happened.

  • Interestingly they also sold a stake in the business after the crowdfunder which valued the business at 25 million less than they said it was worth for the purpose of the crowdfunder.

  • Andy Parker has just asked them on twitter if that was InBev. Interested to see the answer.

  • Someone else asked too, interesting

  • Truman's wading in now to point out that Camden stopped them joining the London Brewing Alliance yet Camden brew in Belgium and have now sold out to InBev. It's like a flipping soap opera today.

  • It does raise questions about the integrity of crowd funding and what should be disclosed before hand. Particularly based on the differing valuations and also whether this conversation was taking place before hand or not.

  • Apparently the deal was only signed today but they didn't tell their shareholders and are now fielding a Q&A session with them on twitter.

    All seems very unprofessional.

They also keep referring to it as a partnership which it is not. AB InBev owns them outright.

  • Given how recent I saw those ads on the Tube, I can't imagine they weren't already having some kind of talks with AB AllBevs...

  • very true , rather scathing question on twitter about why they refer to themselves as if they still own the brewery

  • Have a bottle of the Marble/Against the Grain collaboration in front of me. Try it now... wait until I get home... hmmm...

  • Now, always now. You might die on the way home.

  • How can they sell 100% of the business when they gave up 5%+ in the crowd funder?

  • 95% so they've -now- sold 100% of the business?

  • It says it is wholly owned by inbev in the press release
