yeah, I'd use the same water for the ice. It makes up half your brew, so will make a difference.

Here's a good tear down video

no, just plain old tap water for both. The water here is really soft though, so I've never been tempted to get in bottled water for my coffee machine either.

Is good ground coffee to be had at waitrose? Will be at my parents for a bit over Xmas and they always have horrible coffee. But I could take my aeropress or v60 and drop into their local waitrose...
Should have thought they may have some half decent stuff? If course I can just take a bag of something back from here

The best bit is that Annie really likes it and she thinks it looks much better than old Silvia.

Does a coffee machine with milk wand exist for £150 that's worth buying?
-
• #11565
Used Gaggia Classic is the only thing that fits the bill at that price, and that wont really be worthwhile without a grinder. Sounds like milk is a priority?
-
• #11566
Or a Silvia obvs! They dont often change hands for £150, especially for a well looked after one.
-

GF likes milky coffees, I'm not bothered. Suspected used Gaggia would be the answer.

I'd only advise getting an espresso machine if you really want a new hobby. Often people like milk drinks because coffee is mostly horrid; make a lovely filter coffee or cafetiere brew from nicely roasted fresh coffee and it will be a revelation to most, they'll probably not want lots of frothed milk.

TBH filter works for me... I like espresso but I already have enough hobbies/expenses before getting into fancy coffee at home.
-

In that case i'd get a cafetiere from the supermarket if you dont already have one and a nice bag of preground coffee from a good roaster in town or mail order and go from there. No need to spend a lot on kit.

Disappointed LFGSS. I expected to have spent £300 on machine, accessories and bean subscriptions by now, not this useful advice.

Caveat: i don't like milk in coffee so no idea how good these are

Not cafe quality, but I can vouch for these as a good home frothing option.

So anyone want a melita coffee filter?
are you using bottled water for the cold brew, if so are you using the same water for the ice?
