  • Could at least be black jeans. All these jean/sheux combos are like watching my dad with his white sport socks under between the two.

  • Ha ha, too good. I hope he looks like a rabbit and lives in the story of Alice & Wonderland.

EDIT re that pic @Multi_Grooves linked.

  • second pair of redwing 2243 bought after 25 years of use and abuse of the first pair. great supportive boot

  • Look super nice.
Love my redwings, only one year in of them so far.

  • cheers, not flashy like moc wedge soles, but just so comfortable

  • are they steel capped?

  • yes work boots, spec here

  • If anyone has small feet (7/8) then I have a set of very nice shoe trees from Oliver Sweeney

Retail of a ridiculous £49 but you can have them gratis

  • If you pay for postage I can get them sent out? I'd guess it would be £10/15

We're moving office and I'm trying to get rid of some stuff I dont use.

  • Hi all - I'm looking for a recommendation to get Dainite soles done.
Have seen Tony's off St James mentioned online, any other forumer favourites in central/east/south?
    Thanks

  • The City Cobbler on City Road have done some dainite's for me, I've also used the Mater Cobbler on Upper Street, both were good but it is an expensive service in Landan - If you have family in the countryside somewhere I'd look at prices out there!

  • Ta. What kind of price?

  • I've used City Cobbler a few years ago and they messed up a pair of boots for me. Didn't realise at the time, so when I discovered it it was too late. I asked them to add a rubber sole to a pair of leather soled boots for winter, and when they 'roughed up' the leather sole, they sanded it so far down that all the stitching got undone. Cue boots falling apart.

Took them to Master Cobbler after a recommendation to get them fixed, didn't rate their work either tbh.

Finally took them to Fifth Avenue Shoe Repairs in town. Expensive, but good. Also really fucking rude, so I can't really recommend them either.

  • I think they were both about the £80 mark... cobblers in Suffolk quoted about £45 if I remember correctly... All the 'fashion' brands (Paul Smith etc) who do leather shoes use some guys in Camden - I'll see if I can find out who...

  • Well that's shit of them! I've not needed to go back for ages, I was very happy with the ones they did for me, City Cobbler that is - all the cobblers I've ever encountered are rude!

  • Yeah I saw a couple of rum reviews for City Cobbler. It's for your Graftons - I'd like to be able to wear them and not worry about the weather quite so much.

  • Those fashion guys are probably the cobblers next to Mornington Crescent station (just past the bike shop)... My better half used to get all her designer handbags fixed there, the now retired dad used to make all of Vivienne Westwood's boots back in the early days (he was knockin' out pucka bootlegs in the 80s, by the time I found the place the old boy had retired and it was too late)...

Doesn't look like much, but those in the know know... *taps nose* #csb

  • At work we use:
The Classic Shoe Repair Company Ltd
    23-25 Brecknock Road
    London N7 0BL

No idea about service but we don't get any complaints about the work done...

  • I worked for a couple of the big Italian fashion brands years ago and we used Classic Shoes.

From memory, ALL of the fashion brands use them. Costas is a good guy.

  • Thanks all! Will make a few calls...

  • On the subject of resoling, I've got a pair of Timberland I like but one sole often comes away and I find them a bit heavy, so I was thinking about changing them for something lighter. Any suggestions?

  • Yeah I saw a couple of rum reviews for City Cobbler. It's for your Graftons - I'd like to be able to wear them and not worry about the weather quite so much.

Might be worth speaking to the Church's shop and ask them for a recommendation, they should know someone good. Will prob be £££ but those shoes are nice, so worth looking after
