The best tip I've seen is to adapt the tread of the sole of your shoe and cut out a section each side by the cleat. This stops anything getting stuck between cleat and tread which is, 9 times out of 10, the root cause of clipping in issues.

I'd ride them all year round if I they were giving them to me. But I have to pay for them and, in my experience, they can't cope with the conditions a winter of cross in the UK throws up.
