Y'all just need to learn to set up your cantis.
They may not have absolutely the power of a well set up good quality V but they have the benefit that you could drive a bus down between the pad and rim and the lever still feels nice.
Horses for courses with hydro discs being the obvious winner in terms of outright power and zero rim wear but every kind of brake has it's place.
