  • @Vesalius yes I think @edscoble didn't get my point! Works really well, providing you do leave it to go off properly.

  • Velo Vitality stock Honjo in the UK now, but they are quite pricey.

I had the VO guards for a while, they were good but I also cracked the rear one, fit was ok but not perfect due to the long campag style dropouts and the need to occasionally remove the wheel without unbolting the guards entirely.

  • due to the long campag style dropouts.

Is it not possible to set the wheel near the lips of the drop out so it'll be easier to drop the wheel vertically?

Or is the tyres too big to allow it to sit near the lips?

  • Just received today black hammered vo mudguards.
Good thing I wasn't in a hurry (not going to have a chance to fit them very soon), fresh stripe use myHermes, who didn't fail to take nearly a week to deliver...

  • Don't own the bike anymore so it's not longer a problem but yes, it was a combination of running big tyres, trying to get even clearance around the tyre and having to space the guard away from the mount at the chainstay/bbshell so it didn't rest against the seat tube

Thanks for the heads up :)

  • Fitted SKS Longboard 35s to my Genesis Equilibrium over the weekend, first wet ride today, no wet arse or shoes! Front of my trousers got a bit damp but nothing major, most of it dried off in the roasting hot lift up to my office.

    Life changing upgrade...

  • fitted crud road racer MK2 to my Dolan.
snapped of the rear tail wheeling my bike upright through the flat (no option to not do this)

I never even got to ride it in any real rain when it was in one piece, but after a fewrides without that last tail I've had to fit an ass saver to as my bum is getting soaked.

I cant see how this is happening though, even without the tail, looks like it should cover it, so do you think it's because there's no break caliper? any suggestions?

  • eBay mudflaps for those who don't want to make their own. I'll pick up a fluoro orange one when they're released.

You've been in touch? Can't see anything on the listing.

  • Anything leaving the tyre above the 3 o'clock position will have a forward vector greater than the speed of the bike i.e. the spray is travelling faster than you are. Physics is against you if you need that part of the wheel clear for wheeling through your flat...
Removable flap or extension? Something ingenious involving velcro or press studs?

With thanks to Simon Warren of 100 Climbs fame for bringing my attention to them.

  • Frustrating, the glue patch means it clean snapped off the connecting bit of the mudguard.
Be more carefull and order again it is...

  • My work here is done.

  • LOL I'm buying a rack next. I've turned full nodder

  • I was thinking with more emphasis on removable (every time it needs wheeling through the flat)

Would a conventional flap hold with a nylock wing nut?

  • Can you not shoulder it?

  • Original post from @gretsch refers to wheeling - balancing on the back wheel allows more precise indoor cornering?

My hall has an interesting gouge in the plaster at the height a pedal would be if I wasn't as careful as I claim to be when carrying through the house.
MrsE bought me a tub of Tetrion for my birthday - I suspect she's worked it out.

  • There's a chunk of wood missing from the receptionists desk in my office...

  • I was looking for a set of mudguards for my beater MTB, and found one I really liked in the Crud Race Guard. However, it turns out that the model that caught my eye has been discontinued, and that the modern version is not really my cup of tea. The old model is pictured below, does anyone know about something similar looking for 26" tires?

  • BTW, cred for the pic and GT goes to user chrisv40 on Retrobike.

  • SKS Chormoplastic perhaps?

You do have the mount and clearance for such mudguard after all.

  • I used SKS bluemels in the GF bike. They work, and less than 20 quid if you shop around
