No problems with the CX one I had at all - not using it anymore as I sold that frame/fork, but it did me through a couple of seasons CX and daily commuting without any issues. Could have been a bit lighter/prettier I guess.

That's enough for me! Thanks

Just got a french handset in the mail but it came without ball bearings. Which size do I need?

It would probably help if you said which one. If I had to take a stab in the dark, I'd say 5/32", but some French Headsets famously don't use balls at all

I foolishly asumed that every french headset used the same bearings. It's a Zeus headset and I think it uses loose balls, I have some poor scans of a zeus catalogue but couldn't make out anything about ball sizes (not an euph)

Take a photo an I can tell you which model it is and what bearings it needs when I look through the catalogues :-)

Thanks alot. It's the one of the last pieces to complete my zeus pista :) Looking back at the ad it's supposedly a Zeus 2000.

Okay I'm having trouble with this hed disc I just got, lockring does not tighten properly, even when it is on the threads there is side to side movement, tried it with 2 different lockring.
Am I missing something?

Changed my Ahead adapter grammo to a proper quill stem. Just didnt like the way the ahead adapter looked like. Had a nitto stem lying around so will be using that one until i find a quill grammo. The nitto stem was a lot skinnier than the grammo so I had problems mounting the Junction A box on the stem so I used an elastic band that held my cateye in place. Have to say it's well hidden this way and hardly noticable! Really happy with how it ended up.
Here it is before, with the fat grammo and the very noticeable band that holds the Junction box
So, here's the whole bike without the grammo Stem
Here is how the Junction A box is mounted exactly underneath the stem bolt using some thick rubber bands.

Looks nice! Might've missed this, but how do the gear wires go to the mechs?
-
• #105365
I used a lot of electric tape and cut them thinly to cover the cables and at the same time, stick the cables to the frame. Was thinking of drilling the frame, but if I know myself, this frame wont last me more than a year so decided against it so I can resell it again.
If you look closely on the downtube, there's a hint of black tape underneath it. ^_^the RD cable is hidden from the inside of the chainstay.

Cool. Just noticed the wire(s) attached to the rear brake cable. Does the headtube (cleverly) obscure the point where it goes along the downtube in the pictures? Neatly done.

Are the lockrings you're using campag, Phil wood or ambrosio?
-
• #105368
Sorted it now, tired a 3rd one I had and it fitted fine. I didn't realise that there were different lockring sizes until now, it appears I've been lucky up until now.

A few changes on my daily. For 17eur total I had the BB retapped from french to english & a new BB put in. Cheaper and easier to deal with than the previous loose ball DA BB. Cheap cranks & saddle mounted. Need to think about the wheels next.

^ Looks great already.
Would defo be looking at getting a longer (non aero) post.. that one looks dangerously past max insertion. -
• #105371
It's on the edge, the max-insertion line is just about visible at the collar. TBH I think aero seatposts rarely look so great on larger frames, the proportions of the aero part just don't fit those of the frame. I've been rummaging around to dig out another old selcof that's non-aero and a tad longer but no success yet. Likewise some wider tyres I've no idea where I've placed (2 days hunt = almost time to just buy some more x_x;; )

BB retapped from french to english
French BB shells have a greater diameter than English: isn't it loose?
-
• #105373
no it's the same diameter it's the Ita BB's the big diameter.
nice bike and stem what is the seatpost diam ?
is it suntour cranks ? you whant your sugino mighty ring back ? -
• #105374
I was dubious due to the minor differences but plenty of people over here do it and the shop I go to said it would be no issue. Riding a month now without any issues at all - so far so good.
@Gaston - Sugino AP 144 actually. Kind of a cheap/fake Suntour SP looking thing :) Seatpost is 26,8

Nah ends need to be angle downwards just a little bit. Ergonomics dictate.
