  • by sympathetic i mean well done, an unsympathetic job would show none of the drop out stamp detailing , or the detailing of the seat stay stamps, which incidentally, also seem well filled with yellow , not too heavy
    looks like a nice find

  • thanks man:) looking forward to building her up over the winter...

  • Chain stay looks crimped all the way along the inside and I think that's a Mexico feature.

  • cheers @JusCos, it was advertised as a Mexico, but I wasn't sure really & wanted to clarify with you guys. internet seemed a bit fuzzy on this one..but yeah the more I read seems like a Mexico indeed

  • no usual mexico has a crimped stay mate, only supers
I have had 3 of the 4 mexicos, the 70's one, the nuovo and the last, the esa
the super profil has stay crimps, and the 4th mexico, sometimes called moscow is a time trial model, this may have stay crimps, but the frame in question is not that model

  • pleasure, enjoy!

  • Cheers, a misconception I would have taken to the grave

  • i have some as well, that's what this thread's for, helps clear each others misconceptions up

  • I'm pretty sure it's a respray: I've never seen an original painted one with painted inside of the seat tube. That's a bit "amateuristic".

  • hmmm. this one's also autographed on the left side, that narrow things down? when I get hold of the frame I'll update and let know if it's crimped or not, looks like it could be from that pic but also could be the light/reflection

  • autograph means nothing, these were not on frames till the master was commercially released later, would have been added when re painted

  • ah ok...

  • mexico

    super

    no catalog for 79- 82 super2

    super3

    super4

  • yep, thanks...was just reading all about them on the raydobbins.com site actually, where many distinguishing features are gone over with a fine tooth comb (one of which being the crimped tubes)

    http://www.raydobbins.com/misc/Colnago_Catalog/colnago_catalog.htm

edit: probably already posted somewhere earlier in this thread, that link...

  • saarf, just came across a mexico with crimped stays on th'bay - is this an anomaly you reckon?

  • my collection of colnago Carbon fibre saddles now exceeds my collection of colnago's. Looking to sell my black and white Carbon Colnago saddle (middle one pictured). If anyone is keen id be after £25

again the one in the middle:

    Again:

  • its not a mexico, it's a repainted and mis decaled super is the likely explanation

  • I like it a lot (and great price BTW) but worried it might clash with my winter kit?

  • strong look!

  • It would look amazing!

  • So I received this message from my pal today. I'm more excited at the thought than I think he is. He may have his fingers crossed but I'm sitting here like a contortionist.
