I have a Leatherman blast. It feels like good quality but it's not much of a pocket tool, it's pretty heavy and has a fairly big locking blade. There are mods to remove the lock to make it a bit more legal and because of the design it's not going to fold back on your knuckles even with the lock disabled.
At the other end of the scale I've got a Leatherman Micra. This is great as a pocket tool, very portable and not something the police would bat an eyelid at. Blade is only short, 4cm, but pretty sharp. Most of the time though I find the really good scissors are a better alternative for things.
On "legal" blades like the Spyderco, I don't think there is actually a knife that is totally fine. Even something which is advertised as street legal can be deemed to be an offensive weapon if that is the view that wants to be taken. Obviously it's easier to argue it's not if it's a short blade and non-locking but it's not a guarantee.
This was my thinking.
Because stabbing and murder isn't really my thing I figured even if I was stopped and searched (obviously hugely unlikely) I would probably be fine and could go on my way but there's always the off chance that it might not always be as smooth as that.
