Will do my usual: do about 2/3's, get bored, try for the Festive 500 (units of booze) roundel instead.

North of Euston Road? Don't you have gills?

I always get the Festive 500L of Beer badge. That's what makes the cycling bit so tricky.

Thinking about it. Love the idea of a ride first thing xmas morning but it does come with the risk of being disowned by my parents

Gills you have. Swim, you must.

Think I might do buy a ssmtb and do a festive 50 miles. No way am I going to be able to get out enough to do a 500.

Did a lot of the F500 on Sustrans Route 6 last year; Frozen mud is grippy, black ice isn't.

I'll do the 500/50 this year I think, cycle the 500 and run the 50.

two years ago I put my knee out of whack on day 2 and couldn't walk for a week.
last year I didn't even make it to Christmas before I snapped the rear end of my framethis year I WILL complete this fucking challenge. I have winter gloves, overshoes, jackets, base layers, mudguards and more. Bring it. Grrrrrr.

I did it last year. Towards the end I was just heading down to Regents Park and doing laps, watching other miserable sods doing the same in the opposite direction.

^this.
Last year jarred my knee and inflamed it due to poor cleat set up. This year is my year (no mudguards though).

Steven Abraham I slept on someone's sofa in Diss for about two hours before we did the 200km loop. Then I carried on. When I got to Red Lodge at 7pm, I got very sleepy. I kept stopping to sleep for the last 75-80 miles. The wind didn't help either. I was down to 8mph in the fens. Having tired legs probabl' didn;t help either. I had a slow puncture for most of the ride and decided to change the tube about 40 miles from home but my pump was gone. I probably dropped it when I stopped for a crap in the woods and was looking for my toilet roll. So I stood up and leant forwards to take the weight off my back wheel and carried on 8 miles to Halfords in Lethcworth to buy a pump. I got home about 1pm, so it took me 18 hours to do the last 75-80 miles. I was sleepy because I started this ride the day after I finished a 450 mile ride and I was allready behind sleep when I started that one. 2 years ago
