    Average yes. But that works out best as slightly under 200 miles in the winter, and more than 200 miles in the spring/summer/autumn.

    [EDIT] Look here: http://gicentre.org/oytt/ and see the sinewave profile of Tommy's 1936 record (fell behind the average pace in the first 4 months, picked up as the warmth arrived and his fitness improved, and peaked late October with a fall in the last 2 months of the year).

    Steve's attempt that restarted in August makes it all a bit trickier to compare, but if you uncheck the 'Common start times' box you'll see Steve is currently ~1100 miles behind Tommy's record pace, but Steve's plan is for a more even approach and he'll have the benefit of a lot more fitness for the Jan-August months of the new attempt.
