I'm not really sure what the script is for. You can close word after printing using the macro.

I want to avoid opening Word at all, ideally. If I've gone to the trouble of opening it I may as well go though the GUI to print it.

Is there a reason you don't want to open word to print? Obviously there are infinite reasons to not want to open word.

Can you save the file as a PDF and print from acrobat using your desired setting?
