^ I've done this on a Sony and on Vodafone smart ultra 6, so I presume it's standard.

Anyone want an OP2 invite? It says it's tied to my email address though, so not sure if I can give it away?

I liked the thought of the larger screen and I figured the diagonal screen size was just that... diagonal, and that the phone wouldn't feel significantly larger than the 5x, just slightly larger. After all it's only a 5.2" vs a 5.7". I was wrong, it feels significantly larger. It really isn't as pocketable.
That's made worse by the fact that I smashed my last phone, so I ordered the most protective case available, and that adds a couple of mm all the way around.
The 6p also comes with 64GB storage, by the time I smashed my Moto X I was finding that I was using a lot of the 32GB, so I did want more.
So I was wrong on the size, but then I was right too... the extra screen is really great to use. A lot of apps no longer feel squashed and small, and I find I browse the web almost as comfortably as I would do so on a laptop... nothing is too small to be unusable.
I feel the software is a lot nicer. But hey, everyone gets that eventually.
I doubt I'll ever notice the extra 2 cores or 1GB RAM... I don't multi-function enough on the phone for that to make a difference.
The best things:
- Rapid charging on USB Type-C connectors
- Chromecast Audio and Plex
Plex Android app will stream FLACs, and then I can send that to my stereo via Chromecast Audio. So yeah... I'm happy with that. I seriously recommend the ChromeCast Audio... I never really used the video version, but the stereo version is great. Be sure to configure it for high dynamic range if you do connect it to a stereo.

Oh, and considering that they shipped it with full device encryption enabled by default... I never notice any impact on performance or battery.

I've done it previously but there sometimes used to be issues with apps refusing to move, shifting back onto the internal memory when updating, etc. The new method seems to almost replace the internal memory with the sd card, could be useful for cheapo phones with barely any internal memory.
Anyway, I've given up trying to buy a phone in the States, Moto X Pure that I was looking at doesn't have all the 4g bands for the UK. Annoying as again it was working out at over £100 cheaper than UK.
Useful website here for checking phone compatibility http://willmyphonework.net/
Current plan is Moto X Play. Looks decent for the price and I like the idea of SD card slot and a 3,600 mAh battery.
I'd be happy to stick with my Nexus 5 if it hadn't become almost unusably slow. Often a couple of seconds delay before bringing up the keyboard. Apps like Google Maps can freeze for a good 20-30 seconds. Button presses appear not to be recognised but are actually queuing up for when it starts responding.
Had the same problem on both lollipop and marshmallow.

Haz you did factory reset?

It starts off OK but slows down when I reinstall everything. Nothing obvious on Wakelock detector

Just installed CM12.1 on an old Galaxy S3... what a difference that made. Phone is usable again!

As I mentioned above, getting sick of my Nexus 5. I can't be bothered trouble shooting it and even if I get it working smoothly the battery life is a bit poor so think I'll return it to stock and flog it.
Pondering:
Moto X Play 16GB - £250
Moto X Play 32GB - £320
Moto X Style 32GB - £350
Nexus 5x 32GB - £350Think it's probably between the Moto X Play 16GB (it has a mirco SD slot) or Nexus 5x.
Liking the idea of the big battery on the X Play but not sure if 16GB is too small.
Any thoughts?

I've been um-ing and ah-ing over basically the same choices as you, upgrading from a nexus 4. When I get the money (or if I get all sensible and decide not to buy a ps4 for FO4 1st) I'll probably go for the moto x play for the huge battery too. With regards to the 16gb, that's what I currently have and more or less only have apps installed and I've never run out of space, sd card for everything else I reckon it'll be fine

I like the idea of the SD card, and the price.
The Nexus 5x scores higher on the benchmarks, as does the original Nexus 5 which is more concerning. Although I'm not sure how that translates into actual performance

How's that fingerprint scanner on the back working out?
-
• #16716
Really well.
It unlocks the phone, and lastpass. It unlocks payments, so no re entering of the Google account password.
It's very quick, fraction of a second. And accurate, at the office we has several people try to unlock and none could.
Much much better than expected truth be told. It just works, and works smoothly

That sounds good. I'm trying out an iPhone 6 at the moment, and I really like the concept of fingerprint unlocking, but it's just slightly too slow on this.

• #16718
It's really fast on this. And when you're holding the phone, your finger is in precisely the right place too.
The only time it's not convenient is when it's plugged in, charging and laying on a desk... but it turns out this isn't really an issue as pattern lock is still enabled, and if I want to unlock multiple times I'm probably doing something that means I've already picked up the phone.

Anyone know how to make Firefox for Android open in Private Browsing by default?

It unlocks the phone, and lastpass.
The Lastpass unlock is such a great thing. No more faffing with the LP master password.

Just snapped one up

There is no way. I looked into it, and it doesn't have an equivalent about:config option that it will respect.

Just seen that.
I ordered one yesterday at £250. Cancelled that order and ordered at £200. Seems like a bargain going by the reviews.

It is indeed, I've had my eye on one for a while and haven't really seen one for less than £250, saw that on hotdealsuk and it sealed the deal. Looking forward to decent battery life, being able to carry a few hundred gigs of storage in my wallet that can swap in and out of my phone, finally joining 4G and having a decent camera (last update for the stock camera borked it for the nexus 4 and google haven't even responded to the thousands of questions about ever fixing it)

Also a couple of questions re Lastpass. I've been idly reading around as I've had a few scares this year with a couple of low level hacks of accounts that have similar passwords to other accounts. There seems to be a lot of grumbling about lastpass being acquired by/merged into logmein, is this just nerdrage or are there genuine security concerns? Also, after all my passwords have been super secured up how easy is it to log into stuff when you are away from your main computer? Can you look at them from a phone app or is there some kind of cloud based log in system? Can you carry lastpass round on a usb key or suchlike?
Can't any android this already for Play Store apps using something like AppMgr?
My motorola has a feature to move most downloaded apps to SD as standard (Moto G Ver. 3 8gb, Android 5.1)
