  • Some nice pictures! Like #4, #16, #21 & #22 best.

I've currently got an 18-55mm and a 55-250mm lens. Is there anything that would be more versatile or in the middle, or better for general street photography

Well zoom lenses are more versatile, but like Airhead said prime lenses usually give better image quality and are "faster" (let more light in thus allowing faster shutter speeds).
Also I believe you learn a lot by using primes - the limitation has its benefits I think.

35mm is great for street photography.
Since you have a Canon with a crop sensor you can use the 24mm f/2.8 STM pancake (which gives you the equivalent field of view of a 35mm on full frame cameras) - it's small, light, sharp and affordable -

  • That iz an ansome tractor tho boyo,

  • Nice to see them foxes grow up,
also they look really good in monochrome I think..

  • I really like this. Are there any more?

  • Cheers, yeah there's some more here!

  • Unashamedly self-promotional and which broadly straddles both this and the film thread as I shoot most of my personal stuff on film, typically Provia or Velvia, but I've redone my website of old and new work. Comments/recommendations most welcome.

  • There's some nice shots on your site.
Apart from the photography, just talking about the site:
It's weird that there's more items in the "photography" menu than one can chose from the home page.
Also while I like images in a horizontal row I always find the way that this squarespace "theme" lets one click through the images isn't really nice, would even prefer a scrollbar.

  • Some skateboarding from Wednesday. Love the option to skate or take pictures if I hurt myself / get too tired #toooldforthisshit

  • Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, still working on the theme, it only allows 5 links from the homepage splash, meaning that once into the site you can access all the links from the dropdown. A work in progress, and have to balance out desktop views vs mobile phone ones, hence no scrollbar for now.
